I will admit, I wasn't properly rotating the tires. They were only rotated once (maybe) when Ford fixed my battery junction box (at least they promised to do it gratis).

My fronts still have a good amount of life on them but the rears are down to the wear bar.

Can I get away with just throwing 2 new Primacys on the rear and then either keeping the rears and fronts as a 2 tire set or even just not rotating again and let the rearrs wear down to maybe catch up to the fronts (probably wont happen, I would guess fronts have 10k left).

Also, I have been reading the threads about people liking other tires like the Hancook Ions and the Michellin CC's. I assume it wouldnt be great to get 2 new tires in the rear only and not match them to the front?

Lastly, since I am just doing 2 rears, can I avoid the alignment that everyone seems to recommend when you get a set of new tires?

THANKS

If you've got 30K on the tires, I would recommend doing all 4 and yes I would do an alignment, it's a small price to pay to insure that your car is riding correctly.

I would do all four, and then may I make a couple suggestions:
• Rotate your tires every 8-10 thousand miles
• Go easier on the accelerator. Lots of torque is fun but it’s hard on tires.
I also have a RWD Premium at 30,000 miles and the tires are in great shape - even wear and about 1/4” of tread remaining.

Definetly not rotating them is the issue. My guess is Ford never did the free rotation when they replaced the junction box and so basically my tires were never rotated.

I have to admit, going easier on the accelerator isn't going to happen, the main reason I bought an electric car is the instantaneous torque, love it :)

I hate to replace these fronts because they look like they have a ton of life left but if its really that big of a deal to do all 4 I guess I will just do it. Should I consider other types of tires or just go with the OEM tires?

You could rotate the tires yourself, but nobody is gonna rotate them for you in this situation.

Personally, I would drive another 5,000 miles and just replace all 4. I never rotate my tires because I don’t think it extends the life enough to pay for the rotations. They wear unevenly as a result, but no big deal. I got 50k out of my OEMs and definitely took them down to the nub.

The only issue is that we are getting to the winter soon here in the North East and it probably isn't a good idea to run these tires in the winter. Maybe I will try to get some more life out of them and then replace them when winter arrives.

I took another look at the rears and they have a little bit of life left i guess?

If those 2 are in good shape, keep them in case you need them.
You can also check with the tire shop and if there close enough they'll recommend on whether to replace them.

Hey, I was able to go through the OEM Michelin's in 19,000 miles.... But then again, I also went through 5 HVBJB's too.... Here is the thread and what the tires looked like at 19K. Tire thread

I dont think its a coincidence those of us who went through tires fast also were first to need new HVBJB's lol.

I fully take advantage of the instanteous torque, I'm NGL.

Ok, so I will probably just bring it to the local tire shop and see what they recommend.

The only thing is, if I am going to spend the cash to get an alignment done, maybe it makes sense to just do all 4. Otherwise I need to do another alignment in months or a year frrom now when I replace the other 2.

However, its likely I will always have this issue.

Should I stick with the OEM tires? I assume the other options are just going to wear faster? I am totally fine with the performance of these OEM tires, no complaints.
