The main problem is that I then cannot set a charging limit, so it charges to 100% unless I run down to my parking level two and unplug it. This seemed to happen at the time Ford Pass had its big update a few months ago. Also, better for updates if it is plugged in. The communications from Ford Pass, Wall Box, and the car have always been cranky.

I went to the Ford Dealership today, and they were very quick to say it was the fault of the charger. I pointed out that it happened at that Ford Pass update time, and they said Ford Pass has nothing to do with the car (I don't think that is quite true).

They then also assured me that charge and recognizing a charger were not related. That strikes me as being very untrue. If the car and charger and communicate enough to initiate a charge, surely it must know that there is a charger there.

So I explained that the car and the charger 'talked' to each other and the car was getting a charge, but it is not recognizing the charger location/equipment. My car does accept a charge at the Dealership and recognize the location.

Since March the only charger I have used is that Wall Box. Anyone have any idea how to get the car to recognize the charger and its location?

Sounds like your recognized location for charging got wiped out. Charging limits only apply to "known" locations. You might have to re-store your location and set the limit

Using the car big screen, it says you have to complete a charge before you can set a new one. I have completed dozens of charges, and it does not show a location. It is an underground parking level, but the car is connected, or it least it claims it is connected to the Wi-Fi.

My guess would be it has something to do with your car being underground and unable to get a GPS signal.

The FordPass update maybe cleared what you had set previously? Since the car can't get a GPS signal it won't allow you to set it up again? Just spit balling here.

Owned mine a year, no problem setting a location at home but in the roughly dozen times I have charged at three other locations, could not save them. Even used Ford map to navigate and condition the battery, select and activate the specific charger within vehicle and actively charging but always receive the message telling me I must be at a charger to save it. ?‍♂

The service department people also told me to call an electrician. Total BS. The charger works and the car accepts the charge.

Ford owes me 85 mins. 22 premium - earlier this month, after a long absence of upgrades, I received the "fix communications upgrade - I think it is ECG-24.2.5.6.1. Which then broke my location communication with my app. The home location in the app was gone, still in the car. After 85 mins on the phone with the Ford app people trying to restore communications (doing the craziest things with hidden reset codes) - it's still broken. It is a known problem with that upgrade. So I asked to speak to a supervisor who told me that it is a P2 problem and that there are 4 blocking problems that it relates to. I asked when the software upgrade would be released. He could not tell me. I asked him why they would push out software that is known to be buggy - he said it was a different group. I said someone should tell them. All in all, they were very nice. The software engineering group and quality control team are super weak - which is more concerning than the <ctrl> <Alt> <delete>. It's still broken - and reminds me of this joke -
A mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, chemical engineer, and FORD computer engineer

One day, a mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, chemical engineer, and computer engineer were driving down the street in the same car when it broke down.
The mechanical engineer said, I think a rod broke.
The chemical engineer said, The way it sputtered at the end, I think it's not getting enough gas.
The electrical engineer said, I think there was a spark and something's wrong with the electrical system.
All three turned to the FORD computer engineer and said, What do you think?
The computer engineer said, I think we should all get out slam the doors and then get back in.

It is a known issue that occasional updates corrupt the charge location. It's happened to me twice in 2.5 years but the fix is easy.
  1. Delete your charge location.
  2. Plug in and charge for a short while
  3. Unplug and re-add your location
The only glitch might be that you are in an underground garage, but this should still work. Let us know.

Interesting situation. My MME was supposed to start at 11 due to time of day. It was also set to 80%. Waited until 11:02 and manually had to put it to “start.” Then had to adjust max down from 100% to 80% as originally desired. This my “home” charger and it has worked in the past. Possible that your suggestion works for me too. Any thoughts?

Charging at another location then coming back and trying home again made it show up after it was not for me? That was 3+ years ago thou.

Temp fix.

1) Determine how much you want to add. Example - car is at 43%, you want to go to 90%. Add 47%.

2) Set Wallbox to charge to 47% at a set time if that matters.

Some are indicating that you're not receiving a GPS signal because you're parking in an underground garage. Fact is that GPS service requires line-of-site between at least three satellites and the receiver/car. As a result, GPS service is not available when a vehicle is parked inside any solid structure. GPS signals are very weak.

line-of-sight...

Yup.

I guess I'm confused why @ChehRob is confused. There were discussions months ago where you seemed to understand this GPS issue in structures, and mentioned how challenging it was to get the car and phone to communicate until you got WiFi in your garage, and how you finally go the home charger recognized. This is the same issue. Unless you can get GPS at that location (or very close to it), it's not going to recognize you are there. It has to recognize your location for it to match up with a saved charger. Location is via GPS, not cellular or WiFi to my knowledge. Have you connected your car to the building's WiFi to see if that helps?
