Hi Mustang Mach-E owners,

EDIT (10/1/24)
Today we’re excited to share a new initiative, as part of our commitment to making electric vehicle ownership even better. We're introducing the Ford Power Promise, a comprehensive program designed to address the needs of our electric vehicle customers and provide confidence every step of the way – whether a customer is curious about electric vehicles, it’s their first day of ownership, or like many in this forum, have been driving a Mustang Mach-E for some time. For more insights, read Ford CEO Jim Farley's letter on the Ford Power Promise.

Think of the Ford Power Promise as a one-stop shop for everything you need to go electric. We’ve grouped all the things customers love about Ford electric vehicle ownership under one umbrella, with some new offerings starting October 1st. Check back in to this post on October 1st, the day the Ford Power Promise goes live, to view our Ford Power Promise webpages, containing all the key info you need for this announcement.

For Current and New Ford Electric Vehicle Owners We’re Providing:
  • Ongoing Support and Guidance:
    • New 24/7 live support: We're expanding ‘round-the-clock live support, including proactive charging assistance. Simply opt-in to Ford’s Electric Vehicle 24/7 Live Support services on owner.ford.com if you’d like to use the feature.
    • Improved Ford Roadside Assistance: Ford Roadside Assistance will pick customers up and take them to the closest charging station or dealership if range runs too low. Available for both Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners. For more information on how to use this feature, please visit Ford’s Roadside Assistance page.

For New Ford Electric Vehicle Owners this also includes:

How long until the posts from existing owners that are mad that they aren't going to get the free charger and installation?
Even better, how long until new owners complain that the free install cost thousands?

That is the case for many getting a free standard installation from Qmerit from Chevrolet. Qmerit will tag an installation as custom and the free install will be $700 or $2000 or even more.

Many times if the person pushes back and asks what about the install is custom, Qmerit will adjust the price back to free. It is apparently very much up to the electrician that shows up as to what is standard and what is custom.

Our first EV was a Bolt EUV and GM was making a similar offer then. It was part of what convinced me to buy, and that installation is what charges my Mach E today.

My offer was for a free installation of the circuit but not a free charger. This meant I got a NEMA 14-50 outlet and GFCI (as required by code). That's probably $200+ in parts they paid for that wouldn't have been needed if they had included a hardwired charger. I guess the assumption was I'd plug-in the EVSE that came with the Bolt EUV.

The only "hiccup" was it took QMerit a week longer than expected to find a local electrician to do the job. The one they found came from 20 miles away.

There was never any talk of me paying anything extra for the install. I do know the offer makes certain assumptions about the length of wire and the number of wall penetrations.

For Current and New Ford Electric Vehicle Owners We’re Providing:
Ford didn't have to do anything new for me, so I appreciate this gesture.

Does the offer of installing a home charger replace having free charging at EA? Do you have a choice of one or the other since some of you live in condos, apartments or rented homes?

The free charging at EA is already long gone for new purchases.

A family member of mine bought a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and got a free ChargePoint unit plus installation via Hyundai's preferred installer. There are always considerations and issues with the notion of a "free charger and installation," but net of that I still got a very positive review from him regarding the experience. It was one less obstacle to adoption for him, which made it easier to commit to the new world of EVs. Looks like Ford wants to keep up (or catch up) with that type of deal.

I would have loved to get a (mostly) free home charger and installation when I bought my Mach E, but there were other benefits at the time. Perks come and go...

This is outstanding and every bit helps with new owners. The big thing will be if Ford can get the word out with so many often lazy dealerships when it comes to helping to educate customers that might be on the fence about programs like this.

I hope though that Ford extends this program to work with other manufacturers to provide resource to condos and apartment complexes to install and maintain chargers there.

It comes up on this site often when the discussion comes up about EV adoption that many people in the US and probably Canada rent in some form, be it apartment, condo, or home rental. Those people are less likely to be happy EV owners even if they take the plunge than someone like me who can charge in their own garage. Encouraging adoption in multi family locations would go so far, and helping those locations understand how to maintain the installs and prevent charger camping.

I think the support and roadside assistance is pretty cool though I don't see it being put to use much. I almost never hear about folks getting stranded, let alone forum members. And stranded because they ran out of charge not from HVBJB issues.

Just to be clear, 5 years of free roadside assistance is not new.
In addition, taking you to the nearest charger is not new.
The only thing on that page that seems new is reimbursing to $140. Before it just said "we'll reimburse you the cost you incurred".

So @Ford Motor Company, what specifically is "Improved" in Roadside Assistance?

As someone who is deciding on when to buy a Mach E, this is fabulous news. Takes all the guesswork and research out of figuring out who to have install the charger, which charger to purchase, etc. I wonder if the current 0% financing option will continue through October as well...

My only question is why are they only providing the huge 80A unit? Why not also offer the smaller 48A charger as well, which reduces installation complexity?

EDIT: Seems like they had extra stock of Pro units. They can be set to a lower amperage to match the installation requirements.
