The update mentions "Model Year 2021 and 2022 vehicles" does this mean 2023 & 2024 vehicles already have 10.1.0 or will they eventually get it too?
The 2024s might have it already from the factory, but I presume the functionality will be coming to all Mach-E's eventually. The update might be called something different for '23s and '24s.

I’m not sure when this changed (EDIT: requires 10.1.0 OTA), but the Public Charging app (formerly known as Charge Assist) now works while driving! ? This makes the app finally useful! For those who don’t know, the Public Charging app is the easiest way to find nearby chargers and check real-time availability right from the screen. You can see how many stalls are occupied while on the road. It’s also currently the only way to locate NACS-compatible Tesla Superchargers and navigate to them directly from the touchscreen (aside from using ABRP via CarPlay). Plus, you can activate an in-network charger, so you don’t have to pull out your phone—very handy for networks like ChargePoint and Blink that don’t support Plug & Charge.

With this change, everything in the app works while driving, except for the keyboard and the 'I'm Here Now' button for activating chargers. For me, the most important feature is being able to easily check the availability of nearby chargers while on the road, so I can reroute early if needed. I like to monitor how full a charger is as I approach. Additionally, this feature makes it easy to switch between Public Charging and your CarPlay or navigation app to check the status without interrupting your navigation.

Great job to Ford for successfully getting this through legal and enabling the app to work while driving with almost full functionality. We've been advocating for this change since the beginning. The previous motion lock significantly limited the app's usefulness for EV routing, that's gone now.

One important point is that en-route battery preconditioning still doesn't activate if you input the charger through the Public Charging app (since the POI type isn't recognized as a charger). To make it work, you need to search for the charger using Ford's navigation system. Unfortunately, NACS Superchargers aren't included in Ford's navigation yet, so it's still impossible to precondition for a NACS Supercharger; only Magic Dock locations are currently available.

Yesterday was the first time I had tried to use the Public Charging app. I recently have received my adapter and thought I would try out a Supercharger for the first time. I knew I had a couple Superchargers ahead, so I thought I would use the app to pick one. That’s when I discovered it won’t work while moving. Unbelievable! Anyway, my last update was May, and it is 6.14.0. I’ll be watching for 10.1.0.
As an aside, Plug and Charge faulted on two Tesla stations, but they worked perfectly with the Tesla App. I’m glad I had it already all set up.

When I really needed a public charging all it would locate is 20kwh charging, worthless!
Before you deem a product worthless, you might want to get your units right. It’s hard to take your grand pronouncements seriously when your statements don’t even make sense.

Make sure you set the filter to "ultra fast" stations only. There are lots of filter options.
Yes, I know, I tried all the options. On the first day of my trip I was able to find useful chargers, a 150 kWh ford pro at a Dutro Ford (.70/kWh, one out of four worked , and not accessible after hours, the employees were all very helpful and I got a free car wash!) and then a Tesla charger(.41 /kWh). The next day on the way home, I topped off at a free charger at a museum, then about 3/4 of the way home it left me with choices of low wattage level 2 chargers. I pulled into a Sheetz station and while finding a place to park, I spotted the Tesla chargers(.41/kWh) in the back of the store and I was able to plug and charge. I suspect it was the bad cell coverage of AT&T or worse a competitive deletion. The total lack of highway signage for charging is also a problem, I think 100kWh or better should be posted along with gas pumps, then you wouldn’t have to totally rely on cell coverage and crappy apps.

That is definitely a needed upgrade!!! Look forward to getting the 10.1.0 OTA. That being said, it's been a minute since I've had any OTA's. What I really want is the BC 1.3 or just skip me up to 1.4.

I have a 5 hour drive this Friday (10 hour round trip). #Ford hit me up this week!!!

Cute. Even with that you don't realize that chargers are rated in kW, not kWh?

That just shows why you had such an issue. I'm guessing you don't know what the little lightning bolt icons mean? Next time search for a fast charger if you don't want slow chargers.

This is great news. I thought when I got the public charging app what you were talking about would be working, but I just tried it while I was driving and it doesn’t work so I guess there’s another update coming to make that work, I assumed it would work when you got the public charging?

I’m not sure what you’re saying.
Im guessing you said that “something” is only showing you 20kw chargers. What filters are you using on that app?

@ChasingCoral is neither cherry picking nor behaving narcissistically. He is correct that you had the unit rate for charging wrong. And I agree with him that it was likely user error that resulted in you only being able to find slow chargers.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't think Ford should've made the Public Charging app usable while the car's moving. I understand that it's frustrating to have to pull over or exit a freeway to use it. But it's a million times safer. The app requires way more attention to use than is safe to commit to it while driving.

At the very least, it should require an attestation every time it's opened during motion that a passenger is the one using it. Then anyone who uses the app as the active driver would have to make the conscious choice to circumvent a safety protocol to do so.

Alternatively, for BlueCruise equipped cars, the app should only allow you to use it in motion if hands-free BC is active. The eye nanny would, of course, still chide you if you're not paying enough attention to the road.

Check’s in the mail, right?
Soon, probably, too.
I remember something about "by the end of the year".

I don't like ford nav. Maybe some of you do. It's a free world.

I just want to be able to PRECONDITION WITHOUT HAVING TO PUT A BOGUS CHARGE LOCATION IN THE FORD APP. Please just give us a button Ford. Yes, you want us to use Ford nav, but holding a key feature (precondition) hostage is not cool.

You assume that everyone has the eye monitor. Mine does not as it is a early job one. Just the touch sensors in the wheel.

I was using the older terminology, I guess, where "BlueCruise" meant what they now call "BlueCruise Hands-Free." That sentence wouldn't apply to your car, as it is not equipped. Also, it was just a suggestion. Ford isn't doing it that way.
