I have to question the heat pump hype for a car (notwithstanding that I heat my house that way). Unless it's designed as a "cold climate" unit, it won't be a game changer in really cold climates. It will, in any event, be slow to deliver heat and that is important to get those windows defrosted, especially if your trip isn't that long. I really like the instant heat, along with the incredible seat heaters, that we have now. The steering wheel heat setpoint could be a little higher but that's a small thing.

...Not to mention that it's another piece of environmentally questionable mechanical equipment that will eventually need maintenance/repair.

No, I'll take the range hit in exchange for any perceived improvements.

It will be interesting to see what the real dollar difference is between the Premium Sport and GT, don' t be surprised if the difference is around $2K, then that would push folks more likely to the GT. It's all about sales.

I think these are nice changes from Ford. I personally don’t even need the heat pump I was fine with the 23.5 upgraded heater in northern USA winter. The seat warmers are scorching hot! Anyone use the seat warmers above level 1?

I personally would keep the larger Frunk and go no heat pump, and I live up north

I thought Tesla got rid of stalks? In any case, it’s sort of a silly little retro thing.
you might want to drive it before calling it retro... it is more intuitive than the dial... easy to work the control without looking... these feel more like a momentary turn signal than an automatic column shifter you may be imagining.

I've driven these in a Kia, Mercedes, and a Tesla... I like it.

Dang, they got rid of the shifter dial in favor of a column shifter like Tesla. I liked it :(
I think the shifter change sounds like an improvement. Boy, I can hardly wait to use all of that "freed up" console space!

Ventilated seats is disappointing, though. I was hoping for cooled or air-conditioned. When they say "ventilated", they just mean moving the warm or cabin-temperature air around, right?

Two reasons:
1. Heat pumps are not very effective at temperatures around freezing or below (which is why all residential heat pump systems have electric resistance “auxiliary” or “emergency” systems).
2. As I pointed out, it (allegedly) takes away valuable frunk space. I want the frunk space more than a heat pump of questionable utility.

By the way “Tesla does…” or “Tesla has…” tends not to be a very good selling point for me.
Overall, this is a good update especially considering model refresh is slated for 2026. The two misses for me (so far) are the decreased frunk space and the column shift. Of those, the frunk space is serious enough to me that the 2025 is a hard pass as a replacement for my 21. I far prefer the dial shift as well.

Heat pumps are a meh issue for me. More range is nice but I live upcountry in a brutally mild climate. I’d rather have the frunk room. YMMV.

Oh, I’m sure I could get used to them quickly and wouldn’t mind them. I just find the evolution of gear selectors amusing. I believe on very old-timey cars, you selects gears using a pedal, then gear shifters moved to the column. Then, they moved to the floor (for a “sportier” appearance. Then; “alternative” controls (dials, push buttons, flappy paddles, etc) came into vogue. Now, they’re migrating back to the column.

(Note: the above is not meant to be purely sequential or chronological. It’s just a very rough “flow”).

If the GT still has the same Performance Miko cloth seating surfaces as it does now, they won't be ventilated. You need perforation holes like the Premium's Active-X seats for ventilation to work.
Well, the old solid GT seating surface is gone already in 2024, right? I think the GTs now use the old GT-PE seats, which are full of holes. Will that work for the ventilation?
