An ICE GOM vs an EV GOM are not apples to apples. ICE are not affected as much by weather and pretty much track JUST driving habits. When the GOM changes dramatically in an ICE something could be wrong with the vehicle. People new to EVs should not be shamed for assuming things could be wrong with their vehicle, it will just turn them off from the community and from EVs. Especially with all the FUD people spew about EV batteries being awful.
ICEs experience 15-25% drops in mileage due to a temp decline from 77 to 20

I don't know if my EV/ICE range variation isn't very much apples/apples.

When I fill up the F150 Powerboost, I get anywhere between 550-700 miles to empty. That's an even bigger swing range than I get in the Mach-E. And pretty much both are for similar reasons.

Still, I don't fault anyone for the questions that come with new EV ownership. That's what forums are fundamentally for, right?

My last charge is showing a large drop from all previous ones, and the average temperature has not changed all that much. 10 days ago a 90% charge showed up as 235 mile range; yesterday 190. My driving has also not changed that much.

And FP showed 171 kWh added (I should get a lot of miles on that - if it were true). All the excess kWh must be falling on the driveway. =)

I consider us all EV beta testers and hope that at least most of us consiered this fact upon purchase. Please continue to point out the flaws including the notoriously inaccurate GOM and hope Ford takes notice. I will be leasing EV's until beta testing is complete.

I drive mainly on interstates going over 70 mph, so my GOM has trended down from when I first got the car. The car knows that I'm likely going to drive over 70mph (and that speed causes range to go DOWN) so its GOM is showing the mileage I will likely get at the speeds that I normally drive. If I happen to drive around town going 45, then I will be able to get more range than my GOM predicted before that trip.

For a new owner who has had no exposure to EVs seeing these numbers fluctuate with the seasons is disturbing. My best advice is just ignore them and just drive the car. For most daily driving tasks you have more than adequate range even if it’s down a few percent because of conditions. If you are planning a trip set your comfort level to 20% state of charge and stop to top up to 80%.

That is still well over 150 miles and I don’t know about you but I need a break every 200-300 miles.

I'm hardly a new owner. This is my second MME, had one since July 21. I was calling out a sudden drop without explanation compared to 13 previous charges and much worse than the same time last year.

Because range doesn't matter in a gas vehicle (very little, anyway). You can typically go twice as far (especially at highway speeds), there's gas stations everywhere, and it takes 3 minutes to fill up.

But it does matter in an EV. Very much, because those important factors are far more limiting.
You probably never drove a jeep Cherokee. Ours has less range than out 2022 GTPE. The 2016 Jeep has like a 14 gallon tank and gets under 20MPG, so the range o meter gets used regularly to determine when to gas up. OTOH my 2018 Diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee has a 25 gallon tank and gets 23-30MPG so range can be over 600 miles. Still I watch the range more than the gas gauge and it changes based on the previous ~200 miles usage and factors in recent MPG. It changes drastically after 10 miles, if I am towing. Quite interesting to watch the Mach-e range and charge increase after traveling down hill for 10 miles.

We also had a 2021 premium EX for 14k miles and now a GTPE for 35k miles. If we charge after a lot of city or stop and go driving the 90% range is quite a bit higher than if we charge after a long trip at 70-80MPH. The range will change as you drive for say 10 miles or so. I have seen it go up and of coarse drop substantially depending on speed and weather. Not sure how it could be better at predicting, maybe if they forced you to put in a destination and then took into consideration your previous driving habits and driving conditions to that destination.

I haven't. I'm sure there's some exceptions (there always are), but the vast majority of ICE cars have a practical highway range that's way longer than most EVs. Especially beyond the first leg of the drive where we're typically only starting at 80% (while gas refuels to 100% in ~3 minutes).

We road trip a lot. A typical 500 mile day comfortably takes 3 30-minute DCFCs in the MME. When we drive the Bronco Sport (or the Escape before it), it takes one 3-minute refuel. Average MME drive leg is roughly half as long, because of 80% charges, high speed that is much harder on EV mileage, the spacing of DCFC stations every 75-100 miles instead of every 5-10 for gas (or less), etc. All of which adds up to 10x more attention and caution over the range display in the EV vs ICE.

Towing, of course, just makes both even worse. Try towing in an EV if you want serious range anxiety.

Here is what is really odd about "another GOM" thread:

ICE car owners have had a GOM for decades: Distance to empty.
It never bothered them at all. You always knew it was an estimate, and based upon driving conditions (how you drove, city/hwy, hills, etc)

.......bot now the GOM is blowing a new EV buyers mind?!?!?!?

Same as it ever was.
ICE drivers never cared because there usually was a gas station around the next corner. You watched the fuel gage and refilled accordingly. For the moment anyway, EV owners on a road trip need to plan for where they can stop to recharge, and ultra conservative planning will result in extra, still time-consuming stops (compared to ICE cars anyway).

I'm having the exact same range drop as you, and i cant explain it for most of this year at 90% it was 235 now I'm getting 211 or 196 I don't know why. I even reset the drive history to try to get the range back up but it did not improve.
I'm in central florida so it's not temperature drop.
My driving style has not changed.
I read here the only way of knowing the true status of the battery is to buy a odb2 reader and use the Ford app to see the status of the battery.

My thought now is the car and battery are covered under warranty if it's still going down i guess i will be paying Ford a visit.
