First let me say that I'm hyper sensitive to rattles. That being said, I've been noticing a rattle from the rear seat/cargo area for some time now. I also noticed that it seems to go away when I have rear seat passengers and when I sat in the back trying to find it while my wife was driving. I took all of the panels off the inside of the lift gate looking for it to no avail. Finally today I removed the rear seat cushion and found the two cables going to the seat belt buckles resting on the metal sheet metal underneath. I used gorilla tape to more firmly secure them and low and behold- one rattle gone! Still a few left but thought I'd try to help someone else if they are as anal as me!

Nice! I'm the same way. The car is usually sooo quiet, every little thing is annoying. Usually it's the passenger seatbelt hitting the pillar or something in a cup holder etc..

I've always wrapped the front and rear passenger seatbelts around their respective headrests to avoid having them bang around...

Thanks for sharing! My MME has a few intermittent rattles/buzzes that drive me nuts. One is from the passenger sun visor when going over choppy roads. The other is from the rear when the sub kicks in. That one bothers me the most. I seem to remember reading a post months ago from @markboris (I think it was him) about loose material around the sub that can vibrate. I mean to tear into it soon and remedy the annoyance.

Ever since mine returned from Ford Service for TSB 23-2155, there is more rattles, squeaking, and noises from all over the car - A pillar, overhead lights, etc...

Yes Josh, there is a white insulation pad loosely draped over the inside of the subwoofer grill. The purpose is to keep the road noise down from entering into the cabin from the right rear quarter panel. Not sure how much good it does and being all the way back there not sure you would notice any of it from up front. It vibrates when the subwoofer is doing its thing (pushing air) so you can just remove it.

Thanks, Mark! Would you recommend adding any sound deadening to the body panels while back there to help with vibration and acoustics?

You are in luck Josh, as I am actually sound deadening a brand new '24 at my friends home in AZ. I am taking a minute to write you this... I sound deadened both of my Mach-E's behind the rear quarter panels but it really did not make much of a difference that I could tell. I don't use the OEM woofer otherwise that might make a slight difference with that speaker. There is already quite a bit of sound deadening material back there actually that you will see when you partially remove the rear quarter panel trim. I did deaden the entire floor under the bottom carpet and of course the doors.

In doing this car today, I noticed some differences from my '21

There is absolutely no sound absorbing material behind any of the four door panels like there is on the '21-'22'. I don't know about '23's because never in the interior on one. My '21 has a large panel of 1/4" thick sound absorbing material just like the one that is flapping around behind the rear quarter panel in front of the sub.

The rear hold downs are plastic. Mine are metal.

The B&O amp does not look anything like my B&O amp. Totally different shape. It is larger and does not have "B&O" stamped on the front. I swear this system plays a bit louder and has better bass than my '21 had before I upgraded it.

Got the doors done now working on the rear cargo area. Deadened the floor now going to wire it up for the JL Sub. I won't be back on here for a few hours....

Beautiful car. Is that Space White doing its no-direct-light thing?
Glacier Gray. It certainly takes on different shades depending on the light.

That's awesome, Mark. You da man! If you happen to find yourself in the New England area during your travels, It'd be great to meet you in person!

Your discovery is very interesting. I'm super curious to see what I find once I take my panels off. I'll be sure to follow up with pictures once I get a chance to dig in.

To be honest, I'm ok with the base from the stock "subwoofer". The B&O system is by far the best stock stereo system I've had to date. That said, I've given a fair amount of thought to doing a setup similar to you own.

Would I like to improve on the stock sound system? Sure, perhaps someday. In the meantime, however, I'd be happy enough to just have clear clean sound/base from the stock speakers. If adding sound deadening to the panels helps, I'm all over it.

Adding sound deadening to the doors helps quite a bit. I do both Dynamat on the outer door skin and then 1/4" closed cell foam Dynaliner over that to eliminate all echo and reverberation to the inside of the door. The bass from the door speakers is so much cleaner. After that add a decent sub and you are done. I swear this '24 I am working on sounds better than my '21 did before I upgraded the audio system. Maybe because that amp is different? It has better bass and the system seems to play louder.

perhaps this is a stupid question, how do you detach the cushion and how do you fully reattach it without creating additional rattle? I’ve got what I believe to be the same thing. Every time I go over a slightly bumpy road, a pothole, or a speed bump I get a seriously annoying rattle. I’ve had my kids try to find it from the back with no luck. I believe it started when I went to Costco and lowered my rear seats for extra trunk space.
Please let me know.
thanks
