For those catching up on this issue, the same switch assembly is used in multiple Ford vehicles, and all have the same problem. LOL.

If we report it when it is still under warranty will they just replace it at the dealership?

They probably will. Like others here, I modified my switch assembly to add a rear hatch button, so I would prefer to just buy the part and do it myself. But if you are 100% stock, they should do it under warranty. Show them the TSB.

I'm assuming not covered if out of warranty for a TSB?

What model years are affected? I assume it was corrected at some time.

I have a 2022 MME that & have noticed the the same thing. It is the light switch. I figured out that I hit the switch with me knee getting in or out of the car and it changes the setting to an on position. The beeping is telling you that the lights are on.
I would be surprised if it’s actually you bumping the switch with your knee.

One way to see if it’s the bug vs you bumping it is looking to see if the switch is “lit up.”

Normally there will be a small indicator light on the switch telling you which position the switch is in (off, on, auto).

When this bug happens, the headlights are on but the switch has nothing lit up at all.

As soon as you move the switch to any position, it would light up again.

Is there an old thread where you discussed this switch with the hatch button topic? I seem to remember something but didn’t find it with search? I’m curious as to how difficult it is and whether I would want to do it.

It is one of the easiest mods I have done. You have to purchase a switch assembly that has the hatch button, pop the max defrost off, and slide the hatch button on. Super easy. Then you run a wire from the switch to the fuse box - also easy.

@markboris did it first with a separate switch. Then other forum member did it with the switch assembly, which is what I did.

Start with this post and work your way forward in the thread: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/adding-an-inside-liftgate-power-switch.6560/post-327585

IDK. The best thing to do is contact your dealer and see if they will cover it. I have not talked to mine about it.

If I remember correctly, the new part became available about a year ago. But it is possible Ford didn't throw away old inventory. I have not seen anyone post when MME production started with the new part, but my guess is sometime during model year 2024. That is just a guess.

If the 2025 has this problem I will be surprised, but not super surprised. They took forever to fix it and who knows how many old parts were in inventory. They might be still using them.

I've got a 23 model built 04/23. I've never had any problems like this. Hopefully my car has the newer switch and I won't have this problem.

It isn't a serious problem, IMO. Like I posted before, it rarely occurs and it just takes a quick spin of the dial to get it back to normal. That is why I have not taken any action to replace mine yet.

Now that this thread has reminded me, I should go ahead and order the part. It is a five-minute job to replace the switch assembly.

Looks like that was the issue! I just went back to open the door and the beeping is gone. Thanks @mkhuffman ! I'll call Ford to get the piece changed.
On the 2023 job2, no matter where I set the headlight switch, turning the car off and on again always resets it to Auto......

Follow up.....

After reading this post I scheduled an appt to have the lamp control/switch replaced. Just got it back and so far so good. Covered under extended warranty with deductible.

One interesting note. As I picked it up the Advisor told me she had talked to Ford engineering and that if this fix (replacement) didn't fix the headlamp issue then the next step is an "update" at the dealership of 8-15 hours.....and updates are not covered under the extended warranty.

The kicker is the issue started before my original warranty ended (I just didn't know what the issue really was til I read this post after original warranty expired). I had asked when I dropped it off if they could record the date of the first error code (so that I could argue to not pay the deductible). When I picked it up she said they did not have the date and the code had been reset. Not knowing enough about the codes and whether or not they have dates attached to them, I paid the deductible without much of a fight. Then she sprung the 15 hours of updates uncovered on me.

If a dealer is going to charge you 15 hours of labor to do FDRS module updates, it would be cheaper for you to buy the equipment and do the FDRS updates yourself.
