My '21 Iconic Silver GTPE was one of the best cars I've ever owned. I'm 70, have had just over 40 vehicles and driven well over 1M miles. My Ford options lease was up this month and I called Ford and told them wanted to keep the car and continue with the payments until paid off, another 2.5 years. Two weeks later Docusigned the contract and all was set.
Last month a friend of mine in AZ bought a '24 GT and got $8K in incentives/rebates which brought the price of his no options GT down to just under $50K. We all know of some changes/improvements they've made on the '24 Mach-E's like no 5 second limit, new rear motor, 20% faster charging, slightly better range, performance boost option, new headlight design, new frunk tub design, drivers seat 8 way instead of 6 way power, BlueCruise 1.3, etc. My issue is I really like Iconic Silver and the '24's are not available in that color (neither are next years '25's). So I had dropped the idea of upgrading. With the holidays coming, I started seeing more rebates this month and Ford offering larger rebates than last month for leasing a new Mach-E.
I like lighter colors on my DD and usually get white or silver. I didn't want Space White because it's a metallic and I like solid whites. The only other color was Glacier Gray. Unfortunately Glacier Gray is an extra cost and an expensive one at $1K. Don't see what's so special about it that they charge that much but whatever. Definitely did not want the glass roof. Didn't want the fancy GT wheels as I have my own custom ones or any of the other options.
I don't run a front license plate on any car that doesn't have a dedicated spot for it on the front bumper as it ruins the look of the front end. The Mach-E is one of those cars and here in CA most dealers install the front license plate bracket on the car as soon as it comes off the truck since a front plate is required. Yes I know you can use a vinyl front license plate sticker here in CA but I am not into those either. I usually always special order my cars and my dealer knows not to put the front bracket on the car otherwise they can keep the car and order another. Looking for a '24 GT in Glacier Gray with no options and no front license plate bracket installed at the end of the year in CA is not easy. Spent a few days looking in AZ as they don't have the front license plate requirement. The dealer there I really like, Earnhardt Ford, had 60+ Mach-E's but not my exact one. By the way, if anyone in that area wants a good deal, ask for Art Manni. He's a great guy, ex race car driver and was just granted his order for a GTD. San Tan Ford had 150+ Mach-E's and one that would fit the bill but they wanted $3K of extra dealer crap they added plus didn't have as many rebates. That was a no go.
Decided to start looking for my exact car in CA without a front bracket. There was only one car within 500 miles of me that would fit the bill and it was at The Ford Store in Morgan Hill. Night before last at 6pm, I called to talk to a sales person. I was handed over to Jordan Byler and I asked him if Mach-E Stock #457775 had a front plate bracket on it. He immediately said he doubted it because they don't normally install them on the Mach-E or any car that does not have a spot for it. Right away I liked this dealer. He said he would go out and check for sure. 5 minutes later called me back and gave me the good news, no bracket.
A little bit about The Ford Store in Morgan Hill. I know several close friends that have purchased cars there and they NEVER add an ADM on any cars. They never did on any Mach-E's even when they were first out, they don't on Raptors, Lightnings, etc. They also never add any dealer items like paint protection, Lojack, etc. There is no negotiating with them. Every car on the lot has the window sticker on it and you pay exactly the MSRP or less depending on if they are having a sale or rebates. Salesmen DO NOT make commission. They get paid the same whether it's a base Maverick or an F450 SuperDuty Platinum.
The window sticker on the car was $58,980. Base price for a '24 GT is $54,995. As a side note, the '24 GT's up until July were $53,995. After July they went up $1K and mine was built last month in October. Two options, Glacier Gray paint $995 and GT Performance Upgrade (would have bought this anyway) $995. Destination and Delivery $1,995. So those two options plus D&D total $58,980. I told Jordan I would like to either finance or lease the car based on which would give the best rebates. He said at this time, Ford is giving bigger rebates on leasing. He told me he would get back with a price in 10 min. He calls me back with a price of $43,980. I asked him if he had the proper car because that was $15,000 off of the sticker. He said yes. I said sold. Spent the next few minutes texting him my insurance, license and credit info. 30 minutes later I had an email to Docusign a contract (Ford lease). Rebates breakdown: $10K for Ford leasing, $2K dealer rebate (buying from stock), $2K holiday rebate, $1K for not accepting the free ford EV home charger they are offering. The $15K was my downpayment.
Now, about my trade in.... Everyone knows our cars are worth much less compared to what we bought them for and what they should be worth. I understand this but still willing to trade it in for an updated model at a very good deal. I told Jordan wanted to trade in my car and asked what he would give me. As a reference, my friend in AZ that traded in his '21 Premium with 48K miles got $21K for his. San Tan Ford wanted to give me much less for my car which is a GT with less miles when I was talking to them. Jordan asked for my VIN and some photos of my car. He came back with a price of $22,500 and I said fine but I still owed $27,300. He said not a problem and could just roll that $4800 into the new lease. Since the rebates totaled so much, I didn't put any money down. So yesterday, drove down to Morgan Hill (3 hours away), met up with Jordan and we did a walk around my new car. I needed to change out my wheels/tires for the ones on the new car so the service department swapped them out. That took about 45 minute during which time met up with Lindsey the finance manager and signed papers. When that was done, got in the '21 and did a factory reset on Sync to wipe out my data, then to my new car and set up FordPass and PAAK. Jordan (sales), Ray (service) and Lindsey (finance) were all awesome to deal with. Super friendly, honest and down to earth people. Can't say enough good things about The Ford Store in Morgan Hill.
Ok, on to the little changes I've noticed that Ford doesn't mention and I am sure there are more. Some may have changed before the '24 model year and some changed July '24 on (Job 2).
1. Rear cargo hold down rings are plastic instead of metal
2. Driver/passenger kick plates no longer have an aluminum "Mustang/GT" plaque
3. Dual USB-C ports at the console rear instead of one USB-C and USB-A
4. Front Driver/Passenger doors no longer have a lock actuator (presenter)
5. Removed kick to open liftgate feature
6. Eliminated the inside illuminated open/close button on the liftgate panel
7. Rear speaker grills no longer have a B&O emblem
8. Removed the windshield wiper defrosters
9. Removed hood bump stops
10. Removed parking assist feature
11. Ceiling grab handles no longer damped, when released, they snap up quickly
12. Front camera through windshield has a white casing instead of black
13. High beams don't seem to be as bright as the ones in the '21 (low beams the same)
14. Front headrests on premium no longer tilt forward/backward
15. No more sound insulation padding behind door panels
16. Removed front grille camera washer
17. Cargo cover has slightly thicker support posts, more difficult to attach and remove
18. Shark fin antenna on roof no longer on a separate metal area by itself
19. Wireless charger is a separate metal plate within the plastic console bottom
20. Front proximity sensor beep has a higher pitch tone than rear proximity sensor beep
21. Now comes with a full printed owners manual
22. Start/Stop button no longer has a flashing green LED
23. Front side windows are no longer acoustic (laminated) after July '24
24. Frunk tub is lighter, has half the screws securing it and they‘re exposed
25.There are three things about the audio system that I've noticed
(a) The overall volume is at least 2db louder for any given volume control setting
(b) Dash tweeters sound more harsh in their lower frequency range
(c) The OEM 6x9 woofer bass frequencies sound deeper but it has an mis match of time alignment. It hits after the door speakers so a single kick drum almost sounds like two kick drums hit.
After removing the rear quarter panel to access wires I needed to install my aftermarket sub, I noticed the B&O amp is a different shape and it is also a larger than the previous one.
I took these at the dealer just before I left for home. I told them not prep the car at all. All stickers were left and all plastic inside on seats and floor. Car was dirty but I always prefer to clean it up myself when I get home. It was kind of difficult saying goodbye to my '21. ?

A couple of updated photos after front end PPF, full ceramic coating, roof wrapped in gloss black, window/reflectors/lenses tint, rear wiper delete, calipers painted Grabber Blue, ponyless grill and liftgate.
