I lost my dedicated CarScanner phone, the one I leave in a holder right next to the center screen. The one that shows me the power in and out of the battery and other useful information that Ford neglected to add to the IPC or center screen. Strictly speaking, the local car dealership lost it when I brought in my car for its first 10K mile service.
I don't use my everyday phone for CarScanner. Instead, I have an older phone that I leave in a holder next to the center screen. When I brought my car in for its 10K mile service, they lost the phone. When I dropped it off, a worker thought he was being helpful by grabbing the phone and bringing it to me, but I told him it belonged in the car. I saw him return it to the holder in the car, but he might not have tightened it properly. I took the shuttle home, and when I picked up the car that afternoon, the phone was gone. I called and left a message for the service manager who asked around. No one can find the phone.
I keep old phones for this kind of purpose, and it has no monetary value to me. But it does have my CarScanner configuration, and now I'm annoyed with myself for not saving a backup.
The phone has no cell service, so I can't try calling it to locate it. It's not configured to connect to any WiFi except my home network. So there is no way to contact the phone remotely.
The service manager said he would call on Monday, and it's Tuesday night and he hasn't called, which means he hasn't found it. At this point, I must consider it a lost cause and devote the necessary time to set up my replacement phone (and export the configuration once I'm done).
I'm just writing this to vent my frustration. I don't see anything that anyone can do to help me. But feel free to remeind to take out the CarScanner phone next time
