I have a shop scheduled next week, Ford only lists Caliber Collision in my area and none of the dealer collusion centers are listed in Ford Pass.

They have known my make and model for 2 weeks, so I’ll be pretty annoyed if they have a problem with it being an EV.

Mobile PDR for the ding.
Indeed, but still ~$350 just for the ding and I’d still need (want) to get the scratch repaired. I can’t be bothered to do it.

(I know, I need to hang my head in shame as I do a forum timeout or something?)

Ok that’s one thing that’s more expensive there than here. I had PDR for one ding on Otto, $125.

Bodyshop can’t fix door scratch because it’s electric?

Pah!

I can beat that……….

………I need to carry motor trade insurance because I have to move & road test vehicles I examine in the course of my business.

My insurer who provides cover for MOTOR TRADERS - now get that because it is important - won’t provide cover for my Stang which is a MOTOR CAR - again important because that is the kind of thing motor traders buy, sell and mend - because it is………electric.

WTFingF??‍♂

So had to buy separate policy?

The fact that it’s right on the crease certainly didn’t help

Oh I empathize. Mine was vandalism across the drivers side door crease. A clenched fist smashed against it several times. Perhaps not as bad as yours though.

No, yours sounds way, way worse. Mine is just an innocent door ding. But yeah stuff is very expensive here...

Curious how many of you have run into this. I have a small scratch on my door from a rock I wanted fixed. My insurance has already quoted it.
You planned to submit body work… to fix a small scratch on your door… to your insurance? Do you know what that will do to your deductible?

Find a small mom and pop body shop, pay cash at about 1/3rd the price of that big body shop, and problem solved.

Hi Lee,

if you want a good place to go near us is LaMettry's They work on EV's all the time in fact they were for a time the only certified Tesla body and frame repair in the Midwest. When my first MME gotr hit and run they did the repair & made it look like new.

They did however tell me that paintless dent repair can't be done on the hood or front fenders because they are aluminum and very hard to work with. I had to find someone else.

LaMettry's Collision | Collision, Glass and More!

I'm with ya brother. Last Xmas some a-hole keyed my car from door-to-door on the passenger side. A real angry gouge. The estimate to fix it was $1,500. No way was I gonna give that guy the satisfaction of lightening my wallet by that much so I just left it. I consider it a battle scar now and rarely notice it.

so with all the anti ev hysteria out there, who thinks at some point parking garages will not allow EVs to park in them for risk of a "runaway fire"?
