Inexplicably phone as a key reset leaving me stranded miles away from home

did you try your door access code and then the start code? Or did that stop working when your paak failed?
Everything was reset iirc. That’s what led to the security concerns.

did you try your door access code and then the start code? Or did that stop working when your paak failed?
I was not able to get the keyboard to show up to put in the passcode. After exiting the car and locked it then going back in starting over, doing this 3 times cause i couldn't believe what was happening i gave up and called for a ride home to get the fob.

increasingly this sounds like an issue with the car system. Hope they can sort it. YOu've certainly tried just about everything.
I got the Faraday bag and put the extra FOB in it, storing it in the trunk on a hook with sticky tape in case it happened again. Maybe that's why Ford gave out an extra fob last year for free.

yeah on my 21 it only came with one fob and then ford gave offered all of us one fob people a second fob, the single fob was the only reason I bothered with PAAK, on my 23, never even considered using paak.

Well -here's the update on the outcome of the huge ordeal of Fordpass inexplicably resetting my connection many times. While no one from ford support can explain the source of the problems, Ultimately what I did (no thanks to Ford support, however) was doing what was less intuitive to me but ultimately, resolved the problem. Having done EVERYTHING else, I went in to 'Vehicle Details' page and selected 'delete vehicle'. I held my breath while doing that but had no other choice. Was not sure if i was opening a can of worms. As expected, everything wiped and cleared of any of my vehicle info and personal info. Was as if I was starting with a new vehicle. I went thru the re-registration process on Fordpass and the app acknowledged the success of the registration and instructed me to sync w/ the vehicle. I kept getting 'Failed' on the car monitor after attempting numerous times. I gave up in frustration and thought I"d come back to it later. Well I did just that and lo and behold, SUCCESS. I can only assume that there is a lead time for the synchronization to hit the ford servers. While I had been so stung by all of the previous resets, I was very skeptical that this was going to work.
Well- it continued to work later that day, the next day (previous resets had always reset the next day, never the same day of the attempts) and so on. MOst importantly, the miles/range and 'location' WERE working in timely fashions unlike the previous reset attempts. Here we are 1 week in and in tip/top shape! So, I no longer am carrying the remote with me BUT, I have stored a remote in a hidden spot in a faraday bag inside the vehicle. I now have complete confidence that I will not get stranded again in the future. A boat load of thanks to all of you and your invaluable input!
I still remain very critical of the Ford 'back office' and algorithms that allowed this inexplicable failure.

So, I no longer am carrying the remote with me BUT, I have stored a remote in a hidden spot in a faraday bag inside the vehicle.
Make sure you test and verify that key will not start the car. Faraday bags are not 100% and can still leak enough RF to start the car in some cases.

Yep! Same thing happened to me. I had to get a ride 6 miles home to get the key fob; it could have been much, much worse. I had to delete the app and the phone from the car and reinstall everything.
Your door code and start password didn't work? I've never had a problem with PAAK but I check my door code and start password regularly and have never had a problem getting in and starting it with no phone or fob.

No, the door code worked fine; it was the keypad on the touch screen that would not display so I had no way of typing in my passcode. The next day at home I deleted the phone from the car and the app off the phone and re-installed it all then everything worked fine. lesson learned: keep a fob handy and don't leave home without it

Just glad you were able to fix it. Good to know that they seem to have a time lag for synchronizing when adding a vehicle, I hope I never have to find out!

Keep a fob hidden in the car, either in a faraday bag or with the battery removed. And remember your door code.
I have my fob hidden in my car and it's wrapped up with aluminum foil. Works perfectly

I've had PAAK randomly stop working probably 10 times (though none too recently, maybe an update solved it). I would say the majority of those times there was an issue with the backup passcode not working either (which kind of defeats it's purpose). Best purchase I ever made regarding this car is the Faraday Bag, it has saved me a few times.
