I picked up our dog from the kennel, she was sooo excited and was bouncing all over. In 6 miles of driving, I had to shut off the hazards, clear the park assist or acknowledge the parking brake a few dozen times. I’m thinking of making a cover for it. If I need the hazards I can remove the cover. The other 2 button, I never use.j I’m a woodworker and may go down that road, just wondering if there was a 3d printed version out there? Has anybody done a cover for all of the buttons on the console?

I know you know she was just trying to help you navigate the way home! Our canines know how helplessly hopeless their humans are when it comes to complicated things like finding the way home, at least that’s what Pebbles the ? tells me?

Unpopular opinion, but dogs should be confined/restrained to the rear of the vehicle while driving. They should not be up front in your lap or interfering with the controls. Plus in an accident they will become a projectile or killed by the airbag.

So you should buy a rear seat dog hammock not a button cover.

That’s true I’d say, and it’s why Pebbles the ? does not ride in the front. She’s in back tethered in while giving travel directions.

Not an unpopular opinion. We have hammocks in each car. They stay in most of the time since it's usually the dogs in the back seat. Takes all of 30 seconds to remove it for people to ride, less if it's just one person. We have harnesses for the dogs that clip into the seat belts. The hammocks have mesh in the center so the rear AC keeps them cool. One model I have has zip up sides that keep them from pushing on the window controls if I forget the child lock.

My dog knows not to touch the buttons. He sits buckled in the backseat. But in the event that he gets over to the front seat, he goes back before I finish saying “Toby, go to the back”

Other than trips to the kennel or the hardware store, if Wanda goes, we all go. Which frequently means 4 humans, 3 dogs, and whatever outdoor gear in the trunk. So dogs float from front to back, everyone is well trained to stay out of the drivers seat (that’s my spot!) It seems a waste to drive the 12mpg truck only to avoid the annoyance of a poorly placed button. If she wasn’t excited about leaving the kennel, this is often her condition (in the pickup). The hazards are safely out of reach on the dash, parking brake is by my left foot. The only controls she has messed with were the power door locks (as I hitched up the camper) and fortunately the power window switch, so we could get back in.

I love that you take your fur babies along for all the rides! In my state, it is illegal to have untethered or unbuckled passengers, 2 or 4-footed. As the others have responded, it is a good idea to have our loved ones use seatbelts or tethered in case of an accident. We also have a backseat hammock for our 80 lb Lab and the seatbelt tethers. (Although she does not really like the tether, she usually goes to sleep for long rides.)

I wish you and your family many, many happy journeys!

I have copies of the EU-spec forward cargo rings in my GT just so that I have something to lash my crate to. Since it’s my paws on the wheel, I don’t ride in the crate much. ??

Not unpopular here. We use a Pup-Saver for our dog. It's crash tested but only suitable for smaller dogs.

I have two of these in the back:

They connect to the car seat hook.

The dogs are in one of these: https://www.rabbitgoo.com/products/adjustable-reflective-dog-harness?variant=41211328954483

Find a thin box top that will fit over the entire area – – you can secure it with removable tacky stuff. I’ve done this with other cars.
