What is the procedure to calibrate the radar, windshield camera, and 360 view camers?

My car is in the home stretch of getting repaired, well everything except the right headlight which keeps arriving broken and is now on backorder. While they wait on the headlight they offered to put the old one in, it has glass embedded in it but is not actually broken or non functional, and have me bring the car back once the part comes in.

The body shop put the car back together and sent it off to some other shop for calibration.

I got a notice from my insurance company that they had approved another supplemental payment to the body shop. The total is now up to $19,755.41 + $2,214 in diminished value.

What I found crazy were the prices listed for calibration:

$72.00 - Pre-Calibration Set up
$365.00 - Front radar calibration
$365.00 - Windshield camera(s) calibration
$235.00 - Parking Sensors - Azimuth System Check / Elevation System
$395.00 - Surround-view monitor cameras
$52.00 - Active Systems Verification Test Drive
$1484.00 - Total

That seems insane!

What are the procedures for calibrating the radar, windshield camera, and 360 view cameras?

I am assuming some procedure in FDRS and driving the car around? Or is it really more involved and requires specialized equipment worthy of the $1484 they are being paid by the insurance company?

You are pretty spot on as to the procedure to the best of my knowledge. I thinks it's just because this stuff is so new that prices are so high, I look for all this to come down in the futre.

My understanding is it is indeed an FDRS procedure followed by some moving about. Prices for calibration on many of these systems have been pretty high across the board, but I think they’re probably getting extra here because the insurance company allowed them to bill it all individually, including the prep and test drive.

Yup, almost the exact same quote I received for my 22 PE AWD. I'm going to gird you for what to expect... my collision center tech couldn't get the 360 camera to status. Spent a week trying over and over again. They finally took it to a dealer a week ago and they can't get it status'd either. I'm at 50+ days right now.

I'm super frustrated; no one seems to care. They just keep trying to status it in FDRS and getting no where. No rental car at this point, no dealer car offered, still under warranty. Collision place is getting annoyed I bother to call and get a status update; dealership won't answer my questions.

Parking sensors plug & play.

Windscreen self calibrates.

The rest is necessary but a rip off!

Wheel alignment needs doing so the cars headed in the straight ahead and there could be ADAS component calibration & adjustments.

I once owned a Maserati and the cost for a tune up and timing check was $3500. In the early 1990's. Just for perspective. I paid the price as part of the cost of owning the car.

Please explain "Windscreen self calibrates".
Are you saying there's no need to calibrate the camera to a new windshield?
