Could anyone help me understand the difference between the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 versus the Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect ?

The Plus 3 seems more commonly recommended, both are highly reviewed, the Plus features PNCS noise reduction, they are extremely close in cost, and I can't tell why Pirelli offers two tires that seem so very similar.

Thanks!

245/45R-20 Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect PNCS, Noise Cancelling System. I'm not sure of the difference. I just got what they had a complete set of 4.

I went with these. They are greasy the 1st 500 miles. It handles very well surprisingly. They are very quiet in comparison to the Falken's I had on the car. Haven't tested in rain yet. temperature averages 95 degrees around here.

I just notices the Plus are EV specific, the Plus 3 are EV capable. Perhaps that is part of the difference?

The Elect seems to have a lower rolling resistance.

I have the latter. I think the Elect are specifically designed for EVs with lower rolling resistance and noise foam inside. The regular AS Plus 3 probably don't have the foam.

Unless you need really good traction and don't mind losing some range, I'd go with an electric-specific version of a tire whenever possible.

I’ve had both on my car. I decided to go with the AS+3s after seeing they were sportier and much better in the wet than the elects. I buy tires based on wet performance, as that is the adverse weather condition I’m most likely to drive the Mach e in. Tire Rack found them good in winter weather as well.

I found the noise to be similar despite the AS+3s not having foam.

The AS+3s ride very smooth. I’ve had the exact same overall mi/kwh, 3.0, on the AS+3s as I did with the elects. It handles like it’s on rails. I have the Eibach anti-sway bars on my car, so that might have some effect on my handling results.

I’m on pace to get 20,000mi+ out of them with my aggressive driving style, which is not bad given the weight of the car. I’m also pretty aggressive about replacing tires once they approach 4/32” tread, so you may get a few thousand more if you wait until the wear bars show up.

How have the Elects been for you in the rain? How do you think they compare in the rain with orher tires you may have had on the car? Thanks

Found this on the web
Thanks, I’ve viewed that in the past along with other TireRack videos. The PZero All Season Plus Elect doesn’t perform as well in the wet based in TR’s objective data as other choices, although as I recall the subjective customer reviews were generally positive. I am inclined to go with the PZero AS Plus 3 since its objective rain test results are pretty solid but would prefer not to take too big a range hit.

So, how have them been for you the last few months? Are they quiet? Are they wearing well (Slow). Can you tell the difference in ride quality?
I purchased my Mach E used. It was wearing Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate tires with about 4/32 of tread. They didn't seem like a good choice to go into winter with.

I didn't want a dedicated snow tire because Colorado winters are relatively mild and I have the liberty of working from home during inclement weather. Instead I wanted to go with an all season that would work reasonably well from November to April. For summer I procured a separate set of tires and wheels.

So, moving from the Goodyears to the Elects...
  • The elects are noticeably quieter below 45-50 mph. After that I can't tell a difference.
  • The elects are less grippy than the Goodyears. More likely to break traction at full throttle.
  • Didn't notice a real difference in ride quality.
  • It isn't fair for me to compare wear between the two. Once i knew I was going to replace the Goodyears I was aggressive in how I treated them.

I'm not a tire aficionado and I probably don't notice everything that someone else would. My goal was to move from a single tire year-round to a separate winter/summer setup. Because of the infrequency I drive in snow going with all-season/summer seemed like a reasonable compromise versus true winter/summer.

Edit: Driving in heavy rain is a fairly infrequent in Colorado as well. Generally my climate is semi-arid and mild. Our summer rain tends to be short-lived thunderstorms and not continuous downfall. When I'm in a thunderstorm I just slow the heck down.
