Im assuming if I went 0 plus size with the 255 SCORPION ZERO AS PLUS 3 ELECT instead of the 245 PZero AS Plus 3 ELECT I'd take a slight hit on range if anything, but curious if there are any other differences with the tire other than size and name, the specs and features all seem to line up. Would the price difference (add $60 per tire) really be worth it?

Do these Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 tires have Run Forward technology that allows them to travel for a short distance on a puncture?
No they do not. We have not gotten those here yet in the US.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that "Scorpion" Pirelli tires have a stiffer sidewall and are designed more for trucks and large SUV's. They are a less sporty tire than the P Zero's. You can run either on the Mach-E. One is more sporty, one is more rugged and that is why "Scorpion" Pirelli's are usually more expensive than their non-Scorpion counterpart. Personally unless you want a slightly larger more rugged tire, I would save the $240 and get the P Zero AS Plus 3 ELECT's.

Thanks @markboris I should have gone back through the thread but was about to pull the trigger and I tend to second guess myself once presented with other options. I'll get the Zero 3s installed beginning of next week.

I doubt I’ll ever put an AS tire of any kind on my GTPE. To get the most out of the car’s capabilities, you need a sticky max performance, summer tire, like the OEM Pirelli’s. I’m on my third set of those, and their performance is terrific. Of course, they get half the tread life of an AS tire, but that’s a trade-off I’m willing to make.

I just went wider (275s) in order to maintain the grip level using AS tires. Of course, I had to get a custom wheel (9.5” width) made to fit everything properly and run a reasonable air pressure, but the tires will pay for the wheels in the long run. The wheels are more of an aerodynamic mess than the stock wheels but that’s my tradeoff. 🤷‍♂️🐩

It may be a worthy trade off for you…but depending on how one drives, I think it is 4x more treadlife than the summer only tires.

While the summer tires were nice and sticky, however, it is not just tread life that is different. The ride quality, better range and noise profile (because of the PNCS) of the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus are far superior for daily driving. The summers are clearly great performance tires, but I always felt like I had a “Detroit locker” on both axles when maneuvering tight turns at low speed. The AS version is far more civilized of a driving experience.

Sure, if I was driving on a track, the summers are great tires - and the way to go…but for daily street driving/commuting etc., there is no way I would ever go back to the summer tires.

The Pirelli P Zero AS Plus is a perfect match for my car and how I ACTUALLY drive it.

So far I'm impressed with the new tires (quiet, noticeably better ride, better on wet) but before I made the switch I took the car up the curvy road thru the Santa Cruz mountains outside Saratoga, pushed it up/down about as fast as I'd want to on the summer tires keeping up with a modded Miata & BMW. Once I get a chance I'll take the same route and see how these AS perform- not near as well as the summers, but well enough I would guess.

I don't miss my OEM summer Pireli on my GTPE. The summers were quiet and great. I got 60k
