Alright folks - thought time. With new EV policies looming, lets hear your predictions to how manufactures will react with EV Pricing for 2025?!

Will we see instant $7500 cash credits?! Sudden reductions in MSRP?!

Or - nothing at all, snooze you loose marketing.

Too soon to tell, to be honest. I think it all depends on the direction First Minister Elmo issues ?

Seriously, too soon to tell.

I bought my Mach-E in November and got 15k in rebates none of which were the government ones since they didn’t apply to the 2024 model, at least when I bought it.

lose....

Tax credits will disappear. EV demand, overall, will take a hit. Elmo will laugh, maniacally, as other companies have issues, because he doesn't care about anything but milking Tesla to go to Mars.

lets hear your predictions
I predict the $7,500 federal tax credits will be abolished, effective 1/1/26. This will influence manufacturers to slow EV development and production, and raise EV prices during the second half of 2025 and into next year. Possibly we'll see some shortages of available EVs at year end when the tax credit expires.

MSRP's have to come down, bottom line. As it is, every single EV available right now (in the NA market), at their current respective MSRP's, lose the "value" card when compared to a similar ICE vehicles, for a large majority of the population. I think this is the biggest market hurdle for EV's in the near-term.

My best guess is that the $7500 tax credit will go away. But if you consider that this has not applied to the MME it could get a sales boost because of this.

It simply will level the playing field

The other consideration is the $7500 credit was originally put in place to get automobile manufacturers to invest in EV tech. That is mostly mission accomplished. The current EV tax credit is in place to promote US jobs and manufacturing so maybe, the new administration will see it that way but I doubt it.

my magic 8 ball is not currently working

The fed tax incentive will go away. States might supplement, to some extent. For example, we still have a $4,000 Illinois rebate going on that might be expanded.

EVs are still not profitable for OEMs yet, so the lack of tax credit will impact new offerings and availability of NA made EVs that are dependent on US market. This will be the death of new kids like Rivian and Lucid, as well as firing / retirement of Bara who bet heavily on EVs.

Hi. Does Illinois still have the $4k rebate?
From what I'm seeing it looks like it expired and is coming back in 2025. So since I bought in October of 2024 I'm not eligible, as I bought inside a narrow window of when it was closed (which would make complete sense given my luck). Is that your understanding?. Thanks!

I’ll take door #3- a nothing sandwich.

2025 will feel a lot like 2024.

Michael, the program reopens Jan 21st. You can apply if you purchased within 90 days of the program start date. So it really depends on what day in Oct you purchased the vehicle.

It’s a mad dash to get the application in immediately following the Jan 21st. You can guess what I’ll be doing at 8 am that day ?

Wow, that's amazing! I figured you had to buy after Jan 1 but it doesn't hurt to try. Thanks!!
