Yes I recommend either the NOCO brand which has the red exclamation mark button for the override, or the GOOLOO brand which has a BOOST button at the base of the cables.

Awesome! I have seen other people recommending GOOLOO as well. It's interesting that they don't have a good picture of the boost button or the manual for that model on their website. But for anyone else looking at the "GOOLOO A3 Jump Starter with Air Compressor" it looks like the boost button is here.

That is correct! The boost button is on the jumper cables attachment, not on the starter body.

Hello everyone. Hoping someone can provide me with some wisdom on this topic. My 21 Mach E is dead in my driveway. I'm trying to pop the frunk via the leads in the bumper. I plug in my jump pack and press the override but the frunk isn't opening. Here is a video of what I'm doing https://photos.app.goo.gl/2dNN4wQDzN7kxArT6. Am I missing a step? I'd either like to replace the battery or tow it to the dealer. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your procedure looks good to me. Is the car making any noise when you press the boost button?

When I first tried this, it took a good minute or two for the frunk to pop open. I could hear noise under the hood (like acutators trying to fire or something), I'm guessing whatever mechanism is under there takes a minute or so to charge up the first time. Subsequent times happend much faster, like what I had seen in videos.

If that's not the case, you 12v battery may have a little bit of charge left on it which is preventing you from popping the frunk. The 12v battery has to be completely dead to use those cables to pop the frunk.

Lastly, those cables do have fuses on them. So you can check and make sure those haven't blown (probably unlikely, but never hurts to check).

Changing the 12v battery yourself looks like a process to me, but there are instructions elsewhere on the forum. If it is still under warranty (mine was), I say just tow it to the dealership and have them do it.

Roadside assistance is good up to 60,000 miles. I agree, call them and have it towed.

So I figured I would give another update even though no one asked.

The short of it that only a week after having my 12v battery replaced, the High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) went out on me.

I guess it's just very bad luck on my my end that both died at the same time for me ??

No one knew about the relationship till this week when Lee correlated a lot of failures to vehicles that have not performed the recall yet. The good news is that no, neither you nor your vehicle are cursed. You are one of many experiencing the same issue.

Ah I was wondering if they could have been linked. If only I had known about it a month ago so I could have had them check my HVBJB when they were replacing my 12v battery.

I'm curious if this means with a new HVBJB that the battery should last longer than the expected 3 years. I was disappointed when the dealership said the warranty on a new 12v battery was only 2 years.

Either way, I'm glad to know there is no bad juju with me or my car. I have been without my car essentially since before Christmas and honestly I just miss it hahaha.
