PAAK randomly stopped working - Is there a way I can just refresh the connection WITHOUT actually resetting and starting from scratch? It's a pain to reset PAAK, and I"m hoping to avoid that.

The following usually solves the problem for me, but didn't work this time:
1) Toggling bluetooth on / off on my phone
2) Restarting my phone
3) Force closing Fordpass and reopening

Note: I have a Pixel 8

Thanks!

PAAK had been a major issue lately (more than a month). I've reset several times and it only lasts a day or two. And once it stranded me for 45 min when it wouldn't bring up the keyboard. I've resorted to carrying my FOB until @Ford Motor Company fixes their crappy software. I have a Pixel 9.

the january android pixel update caused significant issues with PaaK. i just updated to the february security update and it appears to have fixed the issue in my initial testing. you do have to do one more PaaK reset from your phone to get it all set up again though.

also, for future reference, there is no way to "refresh" the key from the car to the phone. the PaaK enrollment process generates the key on ford's backend, downloads the key to the phone, and then enrolls the key with the car. you need to have a fob in the car with you when you do this - it acts as a form of authentication. there is no process to do it in the reverse.

No, do not try to do anything to refresh or reset PAAK unless you are parked at home and have a fob with you. People have done that and gotten stranded because they weren't thinking.

It's because you have a Pixel phone. Google messed up the Bluetooth stack with their latest security update. You should stop using PAAK and just use a fob until they fix it.

Blame Google, not Ford. Google broke it.

It's supposedly fixed now in the Pixel February 2025 update. https://support.google.com/pixelpho...ssues-with-fordpass-paak-phone-as-a-key?hl=en

After you have updated your Pixel to the Feb 2024 Security update, do this:

Supporting the other comments. The problem resulted from an Android update error. Thanks to those who identified it as a problem in the bluetooth stack. I manually updated Android on my Samsung Galaxy S22, which fixed the problem.

My iPhone Car Play is only partially connected, PAAK doesn't seem to work. Controls do not work. It does show me vehicle and charging. But changing charging level from phone does not work. Walk away locking no longer happens.
