In the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the "Whisper" drive mode is designed for a calm and relaxing driving experience, featuring gradual acceleration, a lighter "coasting" deceleration response, and a blue ambient lighting and interior sound turned off.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the Whisper mode:
Calm and Relaxed Driving:
Whisper mode is optimized for a smooth and quiet ride, prioritizing energy conservation and a more relaxed driving experience.
Gradual Acceleration:
The acceleration response is softened, making for a smoother and more controlled experience.
Lighter Deceleration:
When you release the accelerator, the vehicle decelerates slowly, providing a gentle and comfortable "coasting" feel.
Blue Ambient Lighting and Interior Sound Off:
The interior ambient lighting and cluster graphics are set to blue, and the interior sound is turned off, creating a serene and comfortable atmosphere.
Best for Slippery Conditions
Due to the relaxed acceleration, Whisper mode is a good choice for driving in slippery conditions
At least you get the nice graphic that we used to have....lolThere's definitely a description of the drive modes in the owner's manual, as well as threads on this forum about it. I read up on the topic last month when taking delivery of my MME using both sources.
The light probably doesn't mean a lot, maybe it's training you for max efficiency but maybe not. Knowing the reason for the mode and not racing from stop sign to stop sign (red light to red light) will get you 99% of the way there, so no training needed. Could just be there to give you something soothing to look at.
I find the normal mode (Engage) has the best overall driving dynamics most similar to a ICE vehicle. If you have the GT or a model with adaptive suspension, there might be more value in switching between modes than what I get in the base (Select) model.

Seriously, what model and year is this one? Would like that graphic and centered speedometer too![]()
Do you get the blue light at maximum fuel efficiency? It always lights up around 30 mph and goes away at higher and lower speeds. I didn’t see anything in the owners manual about it.
You get centered speedometer with lane centering off.Seriously, what model and year is this one? Would like that graphic and centered speedometer too
No. I don’t. 2024 AWD E.You get centered speedometer with lane centering off.
Really weird. I have the same model. Picked it up this Dec. As I was driving it home, my speedometer was in the middle, noted that lane keeping was off. I turned it on and the speedometer moved to the right. I just checked it now, and it no longer does that.No. I don’t. 2024 AWD E.
You mean you can no longer have the speedometer in the center?Really weird. I have the same model. Picked it up this Dec. As I was driving it home, my speedometer was in the middle, noted that lane keeping was off. I turned it on and the speedometer moved to the right. I just checked it now, and it no longer does that.
Crap. I also have a 2024 and figured I could still move it to the center but haven't tried in a while. Guess I'll need to.Correct.
It’s very distracting to me. Not that I ever drive in whisper, but this makes whisper even less attractive.![]()

You must ensure lane centering is off by using the button on the steering wheel.
