$700 is far too high, if you have AAA perhaps they will tow it to another dealership for you without cost?
AAA only tows 7 miles unless you are the highest tier membership. Just an FYI they aren't what they used to be.

For work regarding this TSB, dealership quoted $1400.
I'm currently having my 12V replaced. What are the signs that I may need to address this random software update?
Thanks!

How much of the 1400 is for this TSB. This TSB installs software only but it it appears the tech needs to stand there and watch it install based in the times for this one. Was not the case before? If ford gouges to update their hardware after 3 years that would be the ball game.

I have the same question. If the 12v was already replaced, is the TSB recommended to prevent the new battery from prematurely failing again? Or would it not make a difference since it's a new battery and modules were probably updated when installing the new battery to prevent this from happening again?

It should tell you what they did on your invoice. Pull up the PDF again and see if they installed something.

Makes complete sense, the invoice just said they replaced the battery. Thanks!
I guess, theoretically if I dont do the TSB the battery may fail prematurely again

They would get paid for installing software and therefore would need to list it on the invoice. Should touch base and ensure they reset your 12V battery learned values to ensure the battery is fully recharged while driving if that is also not mentioned. Believe Mr. Lee indicated that is a requirement for a new 12V.

May I ask a question, as I find the structure of the service procedure interesting.

It starts with the DSM and the "DSM software update application". Is this something special, or just the regular update method that afterwards is to be used for all other modules as well (only using a more elaborated wording)?

And why to start with the DSM: as this is the most likely source for the current drain, or as this is one module that would not have been touched when updating the APIM to a rev >= 24127?
