I keep seeing people comparing the MME GT to cars from the days of yore. Sure, the Mach-E is quick compared to those fossils people grew up idolizing on their bedroom posters but the world has moved on.

My 2021 GT is quick off the line but quickly bogs down. The same thing happened to the 2024 coming out of the hairpin. The MME GT is just a pokey EV that gets beat by a 6000 pound slug. I'd like to see the Ford team do better with the next generation car.
So a brand new 670 hp 11 second car is a slug?

I still think your measuring stick is off.

The Mach E barely got beat in the 1/4 mile with a 190 hp deficit.

And the cars we are being compared to? Not 1980s supercars……. Brand new sports cars.

I’m not ashamed we finished a couple tenths behind a Supra GR. Especially considering we would have been way ahead until the very end of the race.

Pokey? Slugs?

Yeah, this race proves the Mach E still loses speeds on a long race. But even with the power drop, it’s keeping up with some real performance cars.

The Supra, Nissan Z, Audi RSQ8, Alpha Guillia quadr, Challenger dark ghost, and BMW M2 are only a few tenths faster and all would be BEHIND for most of the race.

I don’t think any of those are pokey either. ?‍♂

I get it, I really do. The GT is a hoot to drive from stoplight to stoplight. The problem is that it starts walking in deep mud pretty quick under any other circumstance while other EVs in its class just grin and drive away. Ford really needs to do a better job next time.

I guess it all depends on where you draw the finish line.

I will concede this point on our 2021s. They suck wind past 70 mph.

But the 2024+? This is a “better job next time.” I saw a side by side race of a 2021 vs 2024 on FB and it was like 6 carlengths ahead.

They only suck past 110 mph. Not really meaningful for my use case.

I’m definitely jealous of the 2024. But if they make a 2026 that is faster above 110 mph or could hot lap a track, I honestly wouldn’t care other than for bragging rights. Same goes if they made the 2026 with a 150 mph top speed.

Of course that’s just my use case. If you’re looking for a performance car to run laps around the track (like Ford tricked us into believing we could in 2021), this isn’t that car.

I still think Ford needs a tri-motor variant next redesign. I test drove a model S plaid and was blown away by the acceleration and the force it pinned you to the seat with. Maybe if Ford does this , the Mach-E could remove it self from the definition of “pokey”….lol. Honestly for the price of the GT it’s hard to match it performance. The other cars it gets compared to are 10-20k more….of course they should be faster.

A thought on this, torque moves cars. The Mach E has 700ft/lbs of torque and actually 2 281 HP motors or 562 HP. It is software limited to 480 HP so things don't melt. Imagine if they would have put a more robust HVBJB and battery.

Was it a Mustang EV Vs a Charger EV? Mustang lost.
Was it a 5 door slightly jacked up hatchback Vs Muscle car? Hatchback lost
Was it a $59k car vs $55k car? 55k car lost.

Good showing but not good enough these days.

Close but I think the charger is $78,000

One thing I learned from my years of drag racing is someone has a car that's faster than yours / mine.

My MME GT is great for my purposes. However I do think Ford could do better now. There is really no excuse for it to fall flat on its face after just 10 seconds. It's at the bottom for performance EVs. Don't get me wrong, it is a good value for what it is and I like mine.

Why does anyone care about performance after 10s?

Got it but ford is doing the same thing, employee pricing for everyone, 0 % financing, ETC

Didn't Ford ease back on their "Red Carpet Leases"? Folks shopping this month seem to be having a harder time squeezing their $7500 EV Commercial Clean Vehicle federal tax credits back out of Ford these days... Out the door prices seem to be higher than they were before the new "handshake deal" promotion. (for leases, anyway)

Nobody is paying $80k for Dodge Chargers at the moment... Exhibit A, exhibit B, exhibit C...
I mean, they are. Lol. Your links actually kind of prove it. The scat packs are all at around $85k MSRP. Even if you knock $10k off that, you're out the door above $80k... They are going for about $20k more than what I paid for my fully loaded GTPE.
