2024 Mustang Mach E Premium ER AWD
Hello All,

I recently traded in my Model Y last month for a new 2024 White Tri-coat Mach E Premium ER AWD. Overall I enjoy the vehicle so far, getting used to its quirks and such, but theres one thing I noticed was that my vehicle is significantly behind on updates. Judging from the last update I got on 4/8/2025 https://github.com/elmedico27/fordpowerup the last update was ECG-24.2.4.10 which was released in Aug. 2024. My suspicion was this vehicle sat on the lot for some time before I took possession of it. I have a message on my update screen that says "Not Completed" for ECG-24.2.4.10.2. Is there anything I can do to get this update pushed? I did some research online and read about the 12v battery having to be at a certain level. I do use the CarScanner App, and I now disconnect the dongle when I turn the car off so it doesnt drain the battery. I last checked it today and the 12V battery was at 87% SOC after about a ~4 hr L2 charging session. I would really like to get my vehicle up to date as there are multiple major updates that have been released since August 2024 which is when these updates were released.

I would head to your Ford dealer. There isn’t anything you can to push updates. If your car is parked in proximity to your home WiFi make sure you connect it and make sure auto updates are turned on. If your home network allows automatic updates make sure you schedule that at different time than your car is scheduled to update . You don’t want your network to reboot while your car is updating

I have the same issue, I’ve traded in my 21 model and it had more recent updates vs the new July 2024 build.
Delivered on march 25 and way behind in OTA things such as FordPass app advanced climate controls etc which most models got updates to the GWM via OTA last year. These updates are not even showing in the dealership FDRS as outstanding software.

my vehicle is significantly behind on updates.
Similar experience - 2024 made in Dec has no pending updates listed in their system online. I have not ever experienced any OTA update yet since purchase in Jan. And definitely not seeing the items you listed that I'd like to have, too. That being said, I did reach out to the OTA Ford team directly in hopes maybe they have a push to vehicle capability... and they stated they don't have that ability from that office but there was a pause on sending out updates for a bit that was recently lifted and that I should expect some within 4-6 weeks for my vehicle. And if needed sooner, to go to the dealer to circumvent. We'll see I guess... in meantime, vehicle is running just fine so... hopefully that keeps up

Th FP app climate controls are dependent on both the car’s HVAC and BCM software and on server-side variables. My 2024 is fully updated via FDRS and my FP app still doesn’t have those controls. ?‍♂?

@wilson502 if you think your car is behind on updates, there are three things you can do: 1) Wait for OTAs to come. 2) Pay a dealer to update your car via FDRS. 3) Update the car yourself with FDRS (may require the purchase of hardware and an FDRS license). ??

I guess the 4th thing is to just not care about it. I pretty much don’t care and update my car sporadically using option 3, just when I see an update being discussed that may be interesting. ?‍♂?

Not every OTA update actually shows up in your log, and based on when you activate your modem and how often you drive it can take a month or two before you get something.
If you have Tesla charging and Stingray Karaoke, you’re basically up to date.
There are folks on here that can tell you if you need any module updates, and your dealer can install them. Almost all the other updates you’ll see online are for 21-23H1 models. You already have that software in the 24.

I can say for certain that I do not have the 10.1.0 update installed on this vehicle as I do not have my SOC % information in Android Auto/Google Maps. I probably dont have Bluecruise 1.3 installed either. Ill reach out to the OTA team and see what they say.

Since you’ve got a 2024 it came off of the factory floor with BlueCruise 1.3 so no need to worry about that. This changeover happened during the 23.5 models.

You’re also probably not going to get many of those updates since they don’t apply to your car. Some of the LVB and GWM fixes appeared to only apply to 21-22s, likely fix address problems already fixed in the 23+ models.

As far as the ones your missing like SOC or remote climate control, you’ll just need to pray to the OTA gods or get yourself an FDRS setup. Sometimes the OTA folks can help but usually it’s just a “wait for your cars turn” situation.

I have missed earlier chains on this topic. I have a 2022 Premium 4x Ext. The last update noted in the iPhone app is dated October 2023! I thought the settings were set for seamless updates at 1 a.m. Should I simply make an appointment with the dealer to drop it off?

Since a lot of OTAs require a pretty high State of Charge, it’s best to set your automatic update times for a reasonable period of time after you’ve started driving your car and have good AT&T cellular coverage. ??

If you are planning on having the dealer manually update your car’s modules, be prepared for a large bill for their tech’s time. I have spent an entire day doing updates before. The last round of FDrS updates I performed on my 2024 took about 4-1/2 hours for 6 modules. I had fully updated it about 6 weeks prior. So if your car truly had not had an OTA for a year and a half, you will need to spend a lot of time doing updates. ??

Before taking deliver more than a week ago, I asked our salesman to update the car to which they did.

I should be on 10.1. I have Android Auto with the % of the battery. So I think I am !

What did these updates fix on your car? I guess if there's something broke on it that requires updates then the warranty should cover them being installed at the dealer. If nothing is broke, forget about the updates.

My last round of updates were powertrain related. Nothing was broken. The only updates I that I can recall I have performed that were related to anything “broken” were recall software that were related to the HVBJB and a gear shift module update. I’m sure there was another recall-related software on the 2021 somewhere in there. I have never updated anything in my 2024 that “fixed” anything. ?‍♂?

I agree that it’s totally not worth it to bring a car into a dealer and pay to update a car if nothing is broken/performing incorrectly. Since it’s just my time, some electricity, and the cost of an FDRS license, I dump every pending module into my car when I decide there is something I want to update. Nothing ever really needs to be updated. ??

For people who absolutely have to have the latest (and not necessarily the greatest), put an investment into a laptop, a 100A regulated 12V DC power supply, and a Mongoose+ cable. Either that, or wait for OTAs and Ford’s byzantine strategy for releasing to your VIN. ?‍♂?

Well got an update on this. On a hunch, I charged my car up to 90% last night (I typically do 80%) from 40%. It charged for a good 6 hours or so, after charging I checked with Carscanner to check the 12V SOC, this time it was over 90%. Today I went to run an errand and noticed there was a software update downloaded, I went ahead and installed it when I got home. It was the 24-PU0121-FTDI-FX update. Do you think it was coincidence or maybe doing that 90% charge may have allowed it to get the update?

You might want to read this along with some of the other posts in the OTA sub-forum. OTA updates of the Mach E aren't like those in Teslas.
