I sometimes experience the same issue which I solve by exiting the car and waiting for the lights to go out and then opening the FordPass app and get back in the car with it open and it always recognizes PAAK at that point.

Ill always carry my fob, i have a door code and passcode set up, the issue Is sometimes the keyboard doesn’t show to type in the password. Just the prompt to enter password with no way to type it in. Better safe than sorry.
This ^^^.
I’ve had it happen - on a road trip of course. Just like the OP, mine just resumed working after a bout 15 minutes of opening, closing, shutting down, rebooting, etc. I’m not sure if I did the correct magic trick or if it just resumed working on its own. I DID think that I heard it laughing at me like a high school kid pulling a prank.
I always carry the fob with me on road trips, except that one time that I forgot …

Im sure they already now about the backup password.

That is not the issue! The issue is this is happening to me and them all the time and it just started!

Does anyone know why this is happening to a lot of Mach-Es right now.

We all paid for features that are always screwing up. It’s ridiculous!

If you can contribute to resolving this issue then please help.

As I got to your response, I was about to type "because it was just F'ing with you" and then saw your response and laughed.

Did your phone recently get an update?
Did you add any new apps to your phone?

No Phone updates or issues! It’s the car! Also we noticed we cannot operate In-lane repositioning or lane change assistance. Yes we have Blue Cruise

Why didn't you use your Passcode?
It’s all setup now! I had the door passcode set up, but I didn’t realize that you could set up a passcode to start your car in this situation.

I've had an instance where it wouldn't accept the passcode either. Bought a Faraday pouch that day. I got lucky I wasn't too far away from home, and had someone available to help me out.

Help has been provided already. Create, remember, and then use the correct backup password. That's what it's for. Emergencies and/or problems. No one here can RESOLVE the problem.

It’s super fun when the car doesn’t detect PAAK and it then takes a solid 30 seconds or more for the keypad to pop up to let you enter your passcode. Somehow, this always occurs when I have someone else present in the vehicle with me.
I have only had an issue with PaaK one time where it would not recognize my phone and it was when I was visiting my aunt and uncle and my uncle was interested in getting an MME. We went to leave a restaurant we had lunch at and it would not recognize my phone for about five minutes.

He asked if that was a typical issue and I honestly said no, but man what a bad time for it to happen.

But yeah for OP, make sure a backup passcode is set. I am not 100% on what causes it to show up, I think it will show up when you push the brake and try to start with no key detected, but it seemed like it took 30 seconds or a minute before it did.

The suggestions to set a backup code are helpful reminders. But, now that I mention being reminded, I can't remember the code I set up almost two years ago when I got the car. Is there any way to recover the code, or do I need to reset it?

Well…if I knew, I could’ve started my car with the passcode I would’ve done that! I was texting with the Ford person and they didn’t even suggest that! I guess I should’ve texted you in that Ford. ?
If you were in the car, and you pressed the start button, and the key is not found, and there's a phone nearby with an associated passcode, the only thing on the big screen is "enter your passcode".

there's a funny thing about passcodes, though - they're associated with a physical device (phone). Therefore I think you need to have the car see your phone (but not PaaK) in order to throw up that screen. Yes, there's no way to recover a passcode - that's always considered bad security design, on any system.

Note the passcode is not the door code.

I have occasionally had to reboot my phone to make things better. I also keep my fob in a faraday pouch. It comes in handy every few months - more often because it's easier for carwash and valet.

Next thing is to use the fob occasionally, make sure the batteries are good. I've had to replace a set already. It would be super sad to need your fob and find it dead.

It took my car about an hour and a half to recognize my phone as a key. Let me in the car, but it wouldn’t let me start it.

When this happens to me, I open the Ford app and look at the Bluetooth logo. It's usually dimmed out. I slide my finger down to refresh the view, Bluetooth 99% of the time re-enables. When it doesn't, I swipe again.

The only time PAAK has failed me was when the phone was exceptionally hot and Bluetooth was disabled (naturally), and last year when a Samsung update messed up Bluetooth/Ford App connectivity.
