It took 4 months since ordered but I finally got my GT Rally this week. Car is beautiful and performance incredible! Still don't like this lack of a spare tire. Dealer says any wheel that fits a GT will fit a Rally but doesn't recommend any tire that doesn't have same diameter as original 235-55-19 CrossClimate 2's which is 29.1 inches. Tirerack.com is no help, they don't list any rim that will fit a Rally. Modernspare is out of stock until mid September. Any suggestions? Anyone replaced their original rims want to sell one?

Nope!

Must’ve driven over 2million miles and only once ever almost nearly needed a spare wheel when I had to stop my Audi TT c150miles from home on the apron coming off Canvey Island due to a split in tyre, not even a standard puncture.

That puncture repair goo leaked out the split as I re-inflated tyre but held with just a loss of a psi or 5 next 5 mins of driving, then slightly less of a loss over next 10 mins until after a few stops & re-inflations the loss in pressure was virtually nil and got me all the way home.

It’s a confidence thing.

I got a flat 2 years ago on a different car with run flats. Made it home no problem with no air pressure in tire. I think either include a donut spare or sell it with run fats should be the rule.

No, but I thought about it. I went nearly 4 years without a flat. But just recently I got two flat tires in three days, one of which could not readily be repaired and made the car undriveable.

I am considering getting a Modern Spare, but would generally leave it in my garage.

I can buy a 19X8.5 (5-1 What does this mean?) +40mm offset which tire rack says will fit an AWD Mach E. So buying a 19 inch rim solves the diameter problem as I can just buy a matching cross climate 2
Seems my best option although it will cost over $400
(someone on my other thread said a 2024 mach e premium rim would work)

Not all 19ā€ rims will fit over the bigger front brakes of the GT and Rally. Make sure there are no issues fitting it over the calipers before mounting a tire to it. ??

Run flats are expensive and generally can’t be repaired more than once. The internal structure is compromised when you run them flat. Got a hole in one, had to replace two tires. Never again will I use run flats.

Cannot remember last time I changed a tire on the road. Or had a flat, for that matter. My standing policy when we lived in Minneapolis/St Paul metro area was, if you get a flat, call roadside assistance. It's crazy dangerous to change a tire on busy roads.

Just curious. Once you get the spare where are you going to put it? How are you going to tie it down?

Very good points, but I feel so much damage can be done to these cars via towing, I'd like the possibility of avoiding that if safe spot to change a tire.

Jack goes in the frunk and tire in the trunk. Carried one for 3 years in my GT.
How will you secure it down?

It will also take up all of your storage space back there.

I’m also on the list of people who have driven for decades and never put a spare tire on a car on the road.

I haven't had a spare for over 10 years with no issue. I did get a flat on my Lightning last year, but that came with a spare.

No, and never thought about it. Just use the goo that came with it.
