What do KBB or other trade-in valuation websites say your car is worth?

I'd probably also get offers from some of the online car dealers.

With that mileage, I'd be a little surprised if you had substantially more equity than your buyout (less mileage fees), but find out for sure first.

I'd rule-in or -out the sort of no-brainer cases. Of the car is worth $30k, keep it and take your time with a decision. (I wouldn't bet on value going up later this year but expiration of $7,500 incentive, tariffs, and flooded cars could all drive used car prices up.)

If it's worth $20k, let Ford eat that and factor the $2k warranty cost towards your next vehicle.

The future is too uncertain to know whether we should all rush to get into our next EV before September but some people think so....

So far I've had one repair which probably would have been covered by a service contract. The door latch failed on the driver door. It cost me $783.48 for the dealer to replace the latch, so that would have instead been $200 on the contract you're considering, if that component is covered.

That said, I'm kind of hoping Ford might reimburse this particular repair in the future, as I've seen several other reports of door latch failures on the forum and this exact same issue turned into multiple different safety recalls on my previous Ford (Fiesta hatchback). It's definitely a safety issue. I had to tightly grip the door closed the entire drive over to the dealer.
I had this issue on my 2021 2 months ago, passenger door. Replaced under my Premiumcare warranty, $100 deductible, dealer told me $800-1k otherwise. My door kept opening non-stop.

Ok, it's been a fun and interesting 3 years, and now I decide whether to keep or return my MME Premium ER AWD. I'm just looking for opinions....what would you do? Here are my specs:

Payoff: $25k (via Ford Options)
Mileage: just about 47k (allowance: 15k/yr)
Condition: Excellent
HVB Battery SoH according to CarScanner: 91.5%
Repairs: Rear motor replacement, headlight knob replacement, HVBJB recall. Maybe some other smaller stuff. All covered by warranty, thankfully.

If I return it, I'll pay some amount for over-mileage and wear-and-tear. Tires, for example, need replacing.

Other information: I've enjoyed the car, and my family likes it as well. The dealership and service experience has been very inconsistent and frustrating at times. There are bugs in the software that I'm skeptical will ever get fixed (like carplay audio not working every Nth time I start the car).

If I keep it I'll likely need to spend at least another $2k on an extended warranty, because I don't trust that it'll last to 100k without a(nother) major repair.

If I give it back to Ford, I'd likely buy another used EV (possibly another MME, or possibly another brand) or possibly leasing a new EV, and these I suppose might qualify for incentives but also require tax and other details like warranty on a used car (depending on several factors).

I'm leaning toward keeping the MME and buying an extended warranty. I suspect its market value is similar to the payoff price, but even if the value is a few grand less it might be balanced out by things like tax on another car. It gets kind of complicated.

Thoughts or opinions? Any creative options here, or amazing lease deals that I might consider? Let me know what you think, and thanks in advance!
Curious what year? Job 1 or 2? And what color? I have a 2021 Select that I consider upgrading to an ER or GT with.

I bought my original premiumcare from Granger in late 2022, 8 year, 100k and it was $1600 at the time, they have gone up since then. Was also just checking on the granger site, you can enter year/mileage and get quotes, they do seem quite pricy and limited when over 41k miles.

Sorry, somehow I left out the year! This is a 2022, purchased in July 2022.

What you're pointing out about the warranty pricing is interesting because I'm seeing wildly different prices between the dealerships. My car is over 41k but under 36 months, and it seems Flood Ford will sell me a warranty that's quite a bit cheaper than Granger. I don't know if it's a mistake on one of the website calculators, or just competitive pricing.

Interesting, if it is the same warranty the cheaper price is all you need.

If you did decide to unload the car would you sell it through keysavy for 25k so someone could get the Fed and Mass rebates if they qualify?

Personally having the piece of mind of the extended is great, again, I had a door mechansim failure recently saved almost $1k.
