It's probably a matter of a temporary fix (software) and permanent (part replacement). The problem seems to be a part that transfers power from the battery to the motor, and transfers power from the plug back to the battery. It can overheat, and I presume, break down. The actual part needs to be replaced for a permanent fix. However, Ford can probably mitigate a failure of the part by limiting power output and charging speeds. I would not be surprised if they issue a software update for affected vehicles that reduces acceleration potential and slows down fast charger speeds, and then notes that they'll need the big service to be performed to restore specifications to what was originally advertised.Recall parts? The news outlets today reported that the recall would be resolved by an over the air software update. Is there more to this recall than what I’ve been reading in the news?
On the tracker front, batch 6103, production reportedly started 6/12 and isn't completed yet, despite modules being populated. Being 11/300 and seeing people with later numbers already shipping, I think that number doesn't mean much as far as production order. Given the speed we're seeing, Im hopeful for a ship-out starting late this week or early next week. I've got an extra 3-6 weeks' worth of waiting over most of you as the car takes a boat ride over the Pacific Ocean...
