Preface: I might be talking out of my ass.

I have a 15 mile commute with a bunch of traffic lights. It’s actually pretty rare for me to be at the front coming up to lights during the commute, but for some reason I hit 10 when I was at the front.

I could swear that when I lift off the throttle it stops right at the light. As in it recognizes the light like a Tesla. I don’t think I’m that good to time it perfectly like that.
I tried it at different lights where I either lifted my foot a second or so sooner than I normally do, or a second after I normally do. And 95% of the time it stopped right before the line. Once, it stopped a couple of feet too soon on the ones I lifted early.

Any thoughts?

We definitely have the hardware for stoplight recognition, I just don’t think the software is there for something like this to work.

no clue personally though

Also I’m pretty sure even Tesla doesn’t use stoplight recognition for 1PD. It’s just used for driver alerts and ADAS.

My brothers M3 waits til the last second and slams on the brake for a red light when he is using autopilot.
I should try it with BC ?

Many times thinking.... will it stop will it stop .... and yes most of the time it stops right before the stop or red light, but I think it has more to do with the curve of the 1-PD deceleration

I actually consider it a challenge to gauge exactly when to remove the foot and stop at the right spot. Sometimes I end up having to give it a little juice to make up the difference, others I have to engage the break, but most times I am right on. It's an artform to become one with the pedal ?

If you turn the steering wheel this increases the braking, I have done few tests to see how the 1PD handled 90 degrees left/right turn

I've had the same thought. It consistently just stops at the line at stop lights in 1PD without me knowingly doing anything special. I'm sure it's just that I've trained myself exactly when and how to pull off of the pedal to get it to stop where I want but it feels like it might be helping a bit.

You just burst my bubble, thought it was my good judgment when to lift off the loud pedal!

Seems to work at stop lines where there are no traffic lights, too??‍♂

as a previous poster mentioned - stopping at stop signs and lights, i have a high success rate so far, but i feel i have just adapted through experience to let off at the right distance without thinking about it

Have also come close to cars stopping suddenly even with auto braking ... i have reacted and slammed the pedal, being too close to trust the system.

the one that wakes me up sometimes is being on cruise entering town and having a gap big enough for the car to want to accel to highway speed. operator error of course.

i dont believe the system is advanced enough yet to trust anything.
