Is it possible to use a 120v to 240v converter to charge my vehicle?

The Ford mobile charger will accept 120v as an input. The voltage is converted by the car itself, you don't need anything special to do it.

My question would be why? You would still be limited to the ampacity of the 120v circuit. As mentioned previously just use the 120V mobile charger.

My Lightning has 240V and can charge a MME at 30A.
Yes, designed for that; however, If you plug a converter into a 120V socket you are limited to that socket’s capacity.

If you are trying to use the EVSE that comes with the MME, it will tell the car that it is capable of providing 32 Amps of current when the 240VAC plug is attached. That is 7,680 watts of power that would have to come from the 120VAC source. The 120VAC to 240VAC converter would have to be rated for 7.68KW or more. The 120VAC source would have to provide more than 64 Amps of current.

If you had a 120VAC to 240VAC converter with a high enough rating, it would need a special 100 Amp, 120VAC, circuit from the breaker box.

The cost would be a lot lower to have a 50 Amp, 240VAC, outlet installed for the EVSE.
