Wondering if anyone has tried small capacity portable batteries (e.g. amazon ) for the "jump start" situation (anyone measured the load on the 12v system? while driving?)

It might work but if you're expecting it to help you when you're away from home then you have to wonder how do you get into the car to get the portable battery?

I've been designing a dual 12v battery setup similar to what I've used in my off road trucks to isolate the accessory battery from the main battery. In this case it would be isolating the jump battery from the main battery. It would include a small switch hidden in the little cubby where the frunk opening cables are hidden designed to open the frunk. Once the frunk is open, I would flip the A/B switch so the jump battery can provide power to the main battery.

However, work has been getting in the way of fun lately.

[edited to add]
I also currently have a LiFePO4 battery bank + jumper in the frunk, but no sensible way to get in just yet.

" get the portable battery?"

I often have small battery packs in my bag (sling, backpack, whatever) for personal electronics. swapping a pure 5v pack for a dual voltage pack wouldn't be a stretch ;>

So I'm thinking anybody can pop the access and open the frunk? Not that a car is a place to store valuables.
