Hi All,

I’m in the market for a second hand Mach E AWD Extended Range… I have the option of a 2021 model, or a 2022 version. Essentially the same mileage and spec, the only price difference being 1k - oh and colour! (Cheaper 2021 is grey, 2022 infinite blue).

I’m going for a viewing of both cars, so there might be something that tips the balance one way or the other then, but assuming not, is there anything I should know between the two?

I’m leaning towards spending 1k more in the scheme of things to get a 2022 model - my logic being any earlier physical bugs would have been a bit more ironed out.

Would I be able to get Blue Cruise with either of them - or neither of them (Ford website seems to suggest its only available to cars built after November 2022)?

Thanks for any insight anyone can offer!

Richard.

I'd go with the 2022 if given the choice. But be aware that it may not have things like park assist and the hands-free liftgate. Bluecruise is available on both. They discontinued Infinite Blue after 2021, so that's probably not the color of the 2022.

My personal experience is based on the fact I’ve owned a UK spec 2021 and a 2022, and have driven 9,000 miles in the first and 12,000 and counting in the 2022.

I loved the ‘21, but I love the ‘22 more. Reasons why:

1) The build quality is better

2) There are a few software improvements in the ‘22 like the electronic frunk release (promised for ‘21 models but yet to appear!)

3) The ‘22 will have been subject to fewer physical defect recalls so will have been pulled about a bit less.

That’s just a few bits that spring to mind right now - I’m sure there’s more - but ultimately go with what you feel is right for you.

[EDIT] I’ve just seen @generaltso ’s comment above - as it’s a UK model BlueCruse is not currently available on the 21 or 22 editions ‘cause this is the UK and the fun Police like to remove lots of cool features in lieu of cheaper insurance premiums. ? BlueCruise may be available in the future but Ford won’t give a committed answer for the UK 21 and 22 models.

In regards to feature losses - lots of UK cars escaped the cull of hands free liftgate and other features due to being batch built, but do check when you go for a test drive.
