Hi all,

Am looking to purchase and see that on the ordering website, ford seems to suggest that the 2022 Mach E 'route 1' with AWD will make 300 miles in range. Is that correct or a mistake?

Short answer is that it depends. If driving <= 65mph on a nice day with no wind or elevation change, you should have no problem going 300 miles on a full charge. That said, it's not practical to drive 100-0% unless you know you'll be near a charger at all times.

That seems correct, the 2021 Rt 1 was only available in RWD so it had 305 and the AWD version will have less range than RWD, for the premium trim I think the diff was 30 miles.

It looks like they are taking into account the increased battery capacity for 2022 in coming up with the range for the 2022 AWD Route 1, but are still basing the range of the 2022 RWD Route 1 from the smaller capacity of the 2021 battery.

The difference between the AWD and RWD Route 1 should be more than 5 miles based upon the differences between the Premium ER AWD and RWD variants (270 vs 300), and the Premium/Select SR AWD and SR RWD variants (211 vs 230).

So only 5 miles less? It seems hard to believe. The battery size is the same (91 KwH). So how is it possible the Rt 1 AWD will lose only 5 miles compared to the RWD? Seems like this is a mistake to me but if not -- is pretty amazing.

Hmm, hadn't realized they didn't update the ranges for RWD to account for the bigger battery capacity in the 2022 models. Maybe because the AWD version is new for 2022 they just included the updated range for this version and the others will eventually be updated and the diff between the AWD and RWD will be bigger.

Edit: @ARK beat me to the punch.

Yeah it's a confusing mess that Ford needs to fix. I'm not willing to order until I figure out how much of a range premium the CA Rt 1 ER AWD has over the Premium ER AWD. I posted a thread a couple weeks ago and didn't make any progress figuring it out. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/2022-ranges-by-trim-level.10051/

What are the actual differences between the CA Rt 1 and the Premium that would affect range? I know the CA Rt 1 has the manual tailgate, and the 18" vs 19" wheels. Is that it?

Does anyone know which model of tire is used for the CA Rt 1 and Premium? Based on the 2021 RWD ranges of 305 vs 300 mi, I'm curious how much of that 1.7% range improvement is from lightening, and how much is the CA Rt 1 presumably riding on low traction eco tires. It's seeming like the CA Rt 1 range improvement is a marketing gimmick and the range is functionally identical to the Premium except for eco tires.

Edit: Thread with good info here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ncy-advantage-vs-premium-awd-18-wheels.10373/
