Yeah, I noticed the difference, the whole charging door dimple thing, but went with a June build instead of July or later anyway. Darn it.

There aren't any suspension changes on the 2023.5 right?

Darn! April '23 build. Just missed it! We got a reprieve from the usual cold this year, so I guess I'll find out next year how my car performs in the cold.

Sure enough.
I have a build date of July 20th and looked into the Factory Service Manual based on the VIN.
Where did you access the Factory Service Manual?

Well I just got lucky, because I certainly didn't pick the GTPE based on build date. Although I might have if I had known?
Regardless, I live in a basically tropical environment. Texas Coastal.
I really don't neeeeed the cabin heat improvement.

They had 3 identically equipped 2023 GTPE. Siler, light Blue, White

I'm a white car/truck guy for years. My grown children all roll their eyes at my predictability. I long to drive them nuts, if I can. :)

Although I gotta admit that whatever Space White is, it's not always white. Certainly not as white as my KingRanch F150 Powerboost.

Both are fantastic vehicles. Quirky, of course, but amazing packages.

With temporary PTS license (72 hours ~$28.00)
Or purchase from an internet vendor that I have purchased from on several Fords. It will be an 18000 page pdf with the header being the Oasis official record for the VIN.

I don't want to break any forum rules by posting links.

Side note. I still can’t get the battery power level to work. I got it to show 18kw almost all the time but that wasn’t right. The HV current always seems to show around 55A which is also wrong and I think the current reading is the cause of the issue. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Does any other sensor (in All Sensors) show correct battery current?

No. Nothing seems to. I’m stumped.

I haven’t found anyone else with a 2023.5 car with a scanner yet to see if it’s my setup or a car change.
I'll be building my Mach-E OBDlink dashboard soon enough and perhaps the OBDlink enhanced PID library for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury will have some support for the HV current?

I know it does for the 2022 Powerboost. The top half of my OBDlink is for traditional ICE monitoring (3.5 Ecoboost)

The bottom half is for "electrification" portion of the truck.

Makes me wish I had a 3 year Option plan versus 4 but I will just have to be patient! I was warm enough this winter and even drove it below -20F but the extra 2kW would be appreciated!
Nah... by the time your 4 year expires you'll probably have the integrated NACS port + android automotive onboard as standard equipment.

Hmmm. That looks good. I don’t have an OBDlink reader though so I can’t use that app it looks like.
I’m using a Vgate iCar Pro (as recommended by car scanner).

the obdlink MX+ is over $200 Canadian. Pretty steep.

I will take the NACS I guess but could care less about Android. I have only charged at home but will finally do some 350 mile runs this summer. I have had zero issues so far and could care least about all the electronic gizmos. I understand why others like and prefer them but I personally do not. Hell I wish I could still have a wing window on my Expedition!

So will this be available as an OTA? Maybe once BC 1.4 rolls out?

In all seriousness, this may actually get me to buy another Mach-E when the time comes. Happy to see real engineering work still being done on the design.

Nice job Ford.

The woman that I believe said she is leading the project now, said on Munro Live that they are constantly making improvements on this car along the way. They aren’t just leaving it and making a new version down the road. Incremental improvements are supposed to be implemented when they can.

I imagine there are a bunch of smaller changes on things that we wouldn’t ever know about.

Ford Fusion, Mach E soon?

Thank you @Mach-Lee for an excellent write-up of this major change. I knew Ford was redesigning parts of the car on a rolling basis, but I thought it was mostly for cost savings and weight reduction.

This looks like a big step forward in refinement that could have significant improvements to cool and cold weather range on long drives. At highway speeds the Mach-e consumes north of 20kW, with (I assume) the majority going to the motor. Even if it's 90% efficient, that's still 2kW of heat available for the battery or cabin that was previously being wasted and had to be regenerated by the PTC heater.

I actually see this change as making it much less likely that there will be a heat pump added in the future. This looks like as system that's designed to get has some of the benefits of a heat pump at what I'm assuming is a lower material cost.
