“Mostly tires” is what regular GT owners secretly hope because they don’t want to feel like they missed out on something good.

“Mostly the brakes and mag ride” is what GTPE owners hope because we don’t want to feel we wasted our money.

Until we see a GTPE on all seasons or 2024 GT on all seasons test, we won’t know for sure what makes the bigger difference- the tires or the hardware.
and ALL pre 24 GT and GTPE owners wish they had the 24 motors, the software upgrade and no jail bars! ? (23.5 GTPE owner here)

I’ve had summer tires and all season tires on my Mustang GT. Tires play a huge role in stopping distance and acceleration. Wear, compound, tread pattern….
Brake fade is mostly about pads and disk surface’s ability to dissipate heat

I guess I am the odd ball here. I have my MME GT and I drive all over from Cali to Houston to Seattle and in between. I am more about tires. The continental i. Love because they are the INLY tires I have EVER gotten 55,000 miles on. My 21 MME FE ate tires at 35.000 regardless of brands. I do not race but when the situation arises where I need to pass to to avoid some moron in the other lane I need the ability to make a swift lane change or speed quickly with zero drag to get gone.

You’re missing all the fun. I floor it at every light that end up being the first.
I have 31K miles on the original AS tires. It’s at about 1/2 the tread depth.

The numbers are dizzying but I have a GT Edition and love it but the Extreme Performance numbers are so out of sync with my real life use of my baby that, yes in an Ideal World we'd all be track ready but, it's rare I would put my GT to such tests! If there would be any reason for me to trade up to the performance Edition it would be purely for the Magneride. The suspension in the straight GT is as firm and and jolting than I expected.

Here you go. Considering they take the same pads, I'm not sure if it's that big of a deal. Bigger rotors dissipate heat better and take longer to warm up.

While tires will make a difference in braking and handling, larger rotors make the performance more repeatable. The GT’s brakes faded and could not maintain level of performance where the GT-PE’s braking performance remained relatively consistent over multiple stops. That’s always been the reason to go larger in the brakes, not to get stopping distance. Stopping distance is more a function of how much traction can to muster on all 4 tires over the braking run. That’s all tire and suspension design, provided that the brakes have enough leverage and pressure to slow the car. ??
This pretty much nails it. First stop to first stop comparison, the difference is almost 100% tires. Lack of fade in the GTPE is about the bigger rotors, and perhaps pad compound, which typically has a huge impact but they may be the same.
