I have griped a bit before about my 2021 having locked itself before I was able to get to another door so I could let my canine child out. Both my 2021 and my 2024 have walk-away lock disabled. Yesterday I got out of the 2024 and intentionally left the driver’s door open with the intention of hitting the lock button after getting my bag and cooler out of the left rear seat. Just as I pushed the open door request button on the rear door, I noticed the LED on the front door’s lock button illuminate. That is a first, since my 2021 never locked itself while a door was open. In order to get the left rear door open, I had to return to the open driver’s door and push the unlock button, as the car refused to recognize my PaaK at the left rear door. @Ford Motor Company I don’t ever want my car locking itself. ??

Steve, I've heard you talk about this before but to have it happen on both of your cars is a true mystery. Like you I've had walk away lock disabled on all three of my Mach-E's and they've never locked on their own. I can't think of any other setting that would automatically lock the car except walk away lock. Will be interesting to see how many others this might be happening to.

Yeah, it’s really odd. Unless I explicitly hit the unlock button before getting out I can count on a 40-50% chance of the doors locking, but I thought that only applied when the doors were closed. Super-weird that it locked with the door open, since that has never happened to me before. ?‍♂?

That’s so odd. I’ve never had this happen in the past 3 years. I feel like it actually takes too long before it actually locks when I walk away.
I agree

This is so odd.

I’m coming up on 4 years of possession of my 21 early job 1. I have walk away lock turned on and always have plus I’ve exclusively used PAAK since new. Given that, I’ve never had this happen. My usual small grocery run routine is to leave the drivers door partly opened and walk around the back to the front passenger door and open it. The doors have never locked. If I close the drivers door though they will lock as the phone is in my right rear pocket and that’s enough to trigger walk away lock.

Once is a glitch, twice is a bug, multiple times in different cars is a feature — and not a good one. Would updating a module make any sense? Although that seems “off” as more than 1 car have had it happen.

Currently there are no module images showing in FDRS for my 2024. Maybe I should turn on walk-away lock but I don’t want the stupid car locking on me at any time. I spend too much time going back and forth at times where I just want the car to stay unlocked. ?‍♂?

“Walk away lock - On” just codifies the problem. The car shouldn’t be doing this. The FDRS update was a pretty far out in left field suggestion but sometimes straws are all you have to grasp at (Have I mixed enough metaphors?).

I do wish we had the ability to exempt specific GPS locations where walk away lock was off regardless of the switch position. I live in an extremely rural area well off the beaten path and behind at least 2 locked gates with the car locked in a detached garage with a security system. Walk away lock at home is only asking for trouble.
