Ford doesn’t typically call something a recall unless it’s a recall.
Agree a CSP. It was mailed (hardcopy) here. The way I understood it is a recall if a safety issue not a malfunction of the vehicle. The brakes locking on after parked is no safety issue. Recalls can install software such that they cause the car to becoming unfunctional or warn it may happen in the near future. That would remove the function of the car but is now safe.

Copied below from the scanned mailed original.

To demonstrate that commitment, we are providing a no-charge Customer Satisfaction Program for your vehicle with the VIN shown above.

On your vehicle, the Electronic Park Brake{EPB) may not function due to damaged or broken wiring.

I was thinking driving in the snow could have an impact. It states

This Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until June 20, 2033 or 240,000 kilometres

So the program runs for awhile ;)

I agree. When I received the first one I called the dealer asking them to stop sending these. I was told to call Ford, but I think this is dealer initiated.

There's no question about it. That clearly came from your dealer.

When they say "According to both Ford Motors and Mike Maroone Ford, your vehicle is subject to a safety recall", it's simply not true. Both the numbers they listed are CSPs, not recalls.

And the first "recall" that's listed is 22B28, which is a software update that was installed soon after it was available.

Can you really blame the dealer? Let’s face it, they have to make money to stay in business. Since theres very little maintenance involved on BEV’s and they are selling more of them, they do probably need a revenue stream.

Yeah I know, down with the stealers……. Probably so but there are jobs with mouths to feed there too.

Blame the dealer for fraudulently saying that I had a safety recall? Yes, 100%.

The dealer could easily have done in a truthful manner, designed to offer a benefit (free repair) vs. created anxiety over a false issue.

I didn’t really think about the fraud part. Yes that sucks.

My service manager will sometimes called a CSP a Recall if I was bringing the car in for something I knew about. They weren't being dishonest, just using a short hand instead of explaining what a "Customer Satisfaction Program" is to the average customer. I think you all are being a bit harsh with threats about fraud, etc. They weren't trying to extract money from me. And yes, they have a right to bill Ford if they can.

A service manager calling something a recall to a customer rather than explaining the difference with a CSP is one thing. A dealer blasting out notices with RECALL in giant letters and claiming that Ford says your car has a recall is something else.

This is a great thread to show how a very simple thing - a fraudulent mailing by a dealership - is interpreted multiple ways by people that are likely above average in intelligence.

It really shows you how people's interpretations of things varies so widely, and why it's so difficult for people trying to provide a clear message of any type to do so.

The simple statement "orange is a color" would likely have 9 interpretations on this forum, including at least one where someone debated whether color is the proper terminology, someone pointed out that orange isn't a primary color and at least one person explained how red and yellow are used to make orange...

SAFETY RECALL is clear. Non-debatable. And a FALSE CLAIM by this dealership. That's fact. Or not, apparently.

But why do we call dark orange a whole other name (brown)?
