So if you are planning on the Ford mobile charger to be your daily driver, you don't need an EVSE, (Juicebox, Chargepoint, Grizzl-e, and now Tesla, etc). However anecdotally there are a lot of reports of the mobile charger failing after repeated daily use (which probably gets repaired under warranty). EVSE's can be plug-in, or hardwired. If you already have a plug, you will need to find out the breaker size, and tell the charger what the charging limit is, this is something you do not want to cheat on, as it can be a fire hazzard. EVSE's offer additional scheduling and charging insights that you may not get with the mobile charger, and ford app combo. However as mentioned earlier it is not a must have. You can try without first, and choose to go the EVSE route later. I believe till the end of the year there is a 30% tax credit (cost+install),like the $7500 for the car, for chargers.

Yeah, when I ordered it was 1.4% and $1000 Ford options rebate and $1000 Illinois rebate. So no brainier- I hope it holds up with the $7500 fed credit and $4000 IL rebate- it's a nice chunk off.
That's stack is epic. -
I don't see anything about the $1000 ford options rebates + $1000 Illinois rebate, do you have a reference or link to this where it is documented? I've ordered around the same time as you and unfortunately, i haven't heard of any of this from my dealer.

How fast would you like/need to charge? Mobile Charger is 32 amps = 20 miles/hr, where a 48amp will get you 28miles/hr charging.

The bigger the charger, the faster it will charge. I prefer the 48amp personally, and keep the mobile charger in the trunk just in case. You can have a larger unit wired to plug right into that outlet too, as long as it's on a 60amp breaker. If it's on a 50amp, you may just need a new breaker and wiring through that existing conduit. Much cheaper job than most of us.

Btw... I think I'm the only one on this forum that bought the actual Ford Connected Charger, but it's been great after a year with our Standard Range MME. (knock on wood)

Thanks for the charging at home feedback. I kinda figured it mostly came down to speed of charging. My current car is 16 years old and only has 49k miles on it. So, yeah, I don’t drive much lol. The outlet was installed before I bought the house by the previous owner. Looks like it has plenty of circuit breakery stuff lol. I had an electrician take a look and he said it was fine and good to go for an EV.

I think I’ll stick with the mobile charger and just keep it in the car, for now. I’ll probably only have to drag it out once a week, if that.

Also to note, the NEMA 14-50 receptacle might not be a commercial one so plugging and unplugging will damage it fairly quickly.

Nice! I'm doing almost exactly this! Same GTPE, no downpayment but a trade in that will probably be anywhere from $20k-$22k. When I placed the order I think there was a 0.9% APR and $2,000 incentive which will be honored. I'm expecting a $500 /month payment.

Expecting delivery in the next 2 weeks (fingers crossed). Ford Options is a great value tbh. Specially if like me, you tend to keep with the same car for 7-8 years.

Looks like 50A, circuit, so you are good to charge upto 40A, which is plenty fast for most cases, especially if you are driving that little. Typically you want to leave the charger just plugged in. These high voltage plugs aren't too keen on frequent plugging.
