Please, what does ODH stand for? Internet search returns a lot of possibilities, none of which make any sense in the context of this post.
OBD
On Board Diagnostic (pretty sure that's it).
It's the connection by your left knee (USA) under the front dash. You can connect dongles to it that connect to phones or computers to read real time or stored data and trouble codes as well as do programming and updates.

I use carscanner with the single and get live info it is alsof very accurate for the SOH state of health. So when you buy or selk an electric car plug it in and it telkens you if you should walk away or make a good deal. Mind you the soh is not the only truth for an EV but just a good first indicator.

My use is to plan route in ABRP, as that usually is spot on with consumption (I don’t use dongle). Then I simply export to Google Maps and it works flawlessly (there is a built in function for this in ABRP). If you use Android Auto the chargers are marked as chargers and then the car preconditions automatically.

Up until recently ABRP did not require a $70 yearly subscription to access Android Auto. Not worth that for me.

It is unfortunate that the in-dash navigation lacks most Telsa Supercharger (particularly Canada) sites plus Google Maps no longer per-conditions the Mach-e's battery.

For trips, I'm resorting to the car's navigation setting a destinaton to the next nearest fast charger when travelling to pre-condition the battery. We shouldn't have to go through so many bypassing hoops for an EV's basic function.

I like to use ABRP with the odb2 dongle when I’m doing trip with lots of guidepoints (eg zigzagging through a scenic area like Alberta’s Porcupine Hills) because for some reason both Google Maps and Apple Maps suck at such detailed route planning and execution.

Otherwise, for normal trips, I execute each segment using connected nav, and only use ABRP to plan out the trip.

Hi Everyone,
My SatNav needs are fairly simple as the majority of my year is spent going to places that I know very well. For occasional road trips I have found ABRP suits me well although I do not use the paid version and pass the route through to Apple maps on Car Play. Now that the new version has been released I am now considering purchasing an OBDII dongle in order to pass live vehicle data to the App. Is there anyone on the Forum with good experience on using this method and the ABRP recommended OBDLink CX dongle. Grateful for any feedback.

Regards
John
i have the paid version of ABRP, plus the OBDLink CX. The iphone app will NOT connect with the OBD in my 2025 Extended RWD Mach E. I have posted this on the ABRP website but they have not yet added the functionality for my year/model.

Isn't the OBD in the 2025's encrypted?

Surely this would be pointless as the OBD connection is used by breakdown companies to identify potential causes.

Unless Canada is different, ABRP does not require a yearly subscription. Sign up for the MONTHLY plan before your trip, then suspend that membership in the Play Store until your next trip...

Well, pointless or not, they did, at least in the US.

It's not specifically the OBD that is encrypted, it is the CAN network that is encrypted. Unfortunately, the OBD gets its data from the CAN network.

I am not an engineer or any network expert, that's just what I've been able to cobble together from multiple other threads, specifically dealing with CommaAI.

This is not quite correct. Most superchargers in Canada (at least in Alberta/BC) *are* in the in-dash navigation as POIs. And, if you set them as a destination, and the little charging icon shows up on the IPD, your car *will* precondition as you approach.

The trip-planner in the in-car navigation won’t use them, and they won’t show up when you search for a charger. But, if you search for the word “Tesla” or “supercharger”, and it shows it as a charger with its charging information, and then you set it as a destination and the IPD shows the icon, it will precondition.

See https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...rgers-connected-navigation.42532/post-1068361

I also often just set a nearby CCS station as my charging stop, since then the trip planner part gives me more information. But, you don’t have to.

No, I don’t think this is acceptable. But it works.

Nope - look on Vancouver Island where none show up and the closest Tesla charger showing as in North Vancouver or Washington State.

Yes, the best I can do at this moment is use an older version of Google Maps or find a Level 2 charger close by the destination.

My common use is of charging in Port Alberni when traveling from Victoria.

Check it out in my photos! It’s there! I searched for “tesla” near Port Alberni and it popped right up.

When I put it as the destination the little charger icon showed up in the IPD.

So you should be good to do it this way.

No, you can’t use the UI system to search for a “charger” near Port Alberni. It doesn’t show up that way. But, if you search for a POI by the name “tesla” or “supercharger” and search near a city, it will likely show up, and be recognized as a charger for pre-conditioning, even though the route planner is sadly clueless.

thanks! I'll try again.

I was searching by "charger" or "Supercharger".
