A big miss in my view

Compared with DCFC that I see as well as charging at home, I'm not sure the observation of more and more street charging is very widespread. The vast majority of public charging remains at pull in or pull through stations.

I'm seeing them quite frequently in my area. I like my Taycan with ports on both sides--DCFC passenger only.

Nope. It has a cover that makes it look like it, but it is just a fake door.

As for the charge door, I agree that it's a big fail. The only reason I can think why they designed it that way is so that the door would act essentially as a flag and be more visible than just a J1772 connector, thereby lessening the chances of doing damage to either the plug or the port. Breaking off the charging door would suck. Damaging the charging port would be far worse.

Yep. Plus, the only time the charger door is left open is when you have the charger handle/cord plugged in, and that hangs out further than the door. So the door being large/long really isn't the issue it would initially seem to be.

For us it completely works on the drivers side. It also helps that i have to notice it's plugged in before I get in although I'm not sure if i could reverse or move the car with the plug still attached.

I believe you are unable to shift out of park with it plugged in. You can drive off with the door open though. There have been a few threads about that.

That’s the thing…if it was on the passenger side people would be complaining, too. You know Ford focus-tested the shit out of this decision and came to a conclusion based on it.

But he could DCFC the Taycan on the passenger side, WTF was Ford thinking?

I think if I buy a Porsche and pay $40,000-$70,000 more, I'm sure that helps with getting the flexibility of multiple charge points.
