Has anyone used the premium version of ABRP via wireless Carplay or android auto? I use ABRP on my phone for planning but have never used it for navigation, so thinking whether its worth buying the full scale version to work as an alternative to using GoogleMaps

Hi, I did it recently during a 800km trip but my Android phone got veeery hot after a while so I use the native navigation and ABRP from time to time, when decisions have to be taken or just to compare both navigators

I tried it and found the navigation to be hideous! The voice mispronounced simple English words and usually told me to turn too late.

I'll use the OBDII to get real-time info to ABRP for planning but it's the last tool I'd use for navigation.

I know at least on Android Auto, it pretty much only shows you the map and has a very limited interface. If you really like having the map and directions on the cars screens, then its worth it, but if you don't care about that, I'd say its not worth it. I use the premium more to log my trip data and not so much for the AA features. Premium also gets you live weather and other data calculated into your route plan.

Premium is not required to use an BLE OBD adapter to get live data from your car, and have more accurate calculations though.

The latest premium version has some nice features
I do like the real time traffic and real time charger availability.

When using the phone for navigation i do not use the wireless charging, but connect a cable. This way the phone does not get too hot.

I am currently using the Tronity connection, but my ODB adapter is coming tomorrow

ABRP also can be operated on the phone when android auto is running.

Next week i am going on a trip for +400km, so i guess i will know more after then.

And just now when i was typing this a new version installed on my phone, so development is ongoing

I attempted to use it with BLE and Android Auto on a 1700 mile road trip this past weekend and did not form a positive impression.

My S20FE was to say the least stressed. Ended up using the integrated navigation.

Thanks, for the feedback on ABRP. Planning to not use it for now, will keep on using Google maps. For data, I started using TRonity, seems very good.

Tried it about a couple of weeks ago via Android Auto. Had my phone (S22) on the wireless charging pad. Never had issues with google maps navigation with my phone on the pad. ABRP seemingly could not get a GPS lock, nor keep a consistent heading. After a few minutes, I bailed on it, and went back to Ford Navigation.

I plug in my phone, and run ABRP on it. My wife runs GoogleMaps on hers, and I have Ford Navigation on the big screen. I plan the trips on ABRP on the PC, much easier to tweak things, then when I open the phone app I simply retrieve that plan from the saved plans.

I think ABRP's navigation is just fine. But I also have two others running so if there are discrepancies we figure it out.

I use the premium ABRP. I share the route with Google Maps, which then displays.
I do get confused whether Google Maps is set up for all stops. So I reset after the first charging stop.

I have been using it for my road trips this summer, and it's been very reliable for figuring out the chargers/times/SOC. Have had issues with GPS accuracy using it though, so I tend to switch over to Google Maps for last mile routing.

There is a setting to use the GPS from "the device" then the accuracy is the same
