Anyone else have confused ac since recent updates over the winter? Mine is totally opposite of past two summers. It seem to base its cooling only on outside temp now. So say it’s 20c outside and super sunny (my Mach e is black) car is crazy hot inside but remote start or usual controls won’t get any ac going hardly at all. Have to use max ac to get it to cool down now. But if temp rises say to 25c just like that it works normal with a normal set point. I have been able to repeat this many times in the last few weeks. It’s even worse if the front of the car happens to be shaded and back is getting sun. Other odd pattern I have found is say last time you drove it was cool out and now it’s hot and ac should be on it’s not as it’s stuck at low outside temp for a good 10min of the drive then will start to cool. It’s very odd and feels like a software issue. Ac was amazing in this car before all the hvac updates since fall ‘22. Curious if anyone else has this very annoying issue??

There's yet another HVAC update available in FDRS, perhaps this the summer update? Try the dealer and complain. Perhaps they can apply the most recent for you.

Is that above and beyond the one that came out in 4.2.5?

Thank you

Yes it is.
The recent HVAC update updated the ECU Configuration.

I don’t think it will help, there’s still a bug in the interior temp algorithm that underestimates the interior temp after a heat soak.

It’s almost like they don’t test these updates eh…. Are you aware if ford is aware?

The symptoms you're describing match up with my summer experience since day 1 (March 2021). This probably won't be fixed. I just reduce the set temp way below what I actually want it to be when I am driving after the cabin's been heat soaked.

If I drive at night, or head out from my garage in the morning, then I set the temp up to more reasonable degrees.

As far as the outside temperature reading, that is working as designed, too. It doesn't update the outside temperature reading when you first start the vehicle. Instead, the sensed readings are slowly mixed into the current displayed reading while you are driving at least a minimum speed. Moving averages... This is to reduce local measurement errors/spikes.

I have the latest HVAC update released to FDRS and have found I have been having to adjust the temp way more often than last spring.

If feels like the car is way warmer inside than the set temp of 67.

Last year I had it in auto low and set to 67 and never had to touch the HVAC settings. The car was always a temp I wanted or seemed to be actively working toward a temp I wanted.

Now it seems the car gets warm and I have to either bump auto to medium or high for a while or lower the temp even lower. Then a few minutes later I have to undo the changes I just made.

Well that's not promising :( Man these buggy updates are annoying.

I am glad to read this post since the 4.2.5 update I noticed the car does not cool down as good as it did before the update. I noticed I have to change the temp way more up and down and I used to ride on air blower 1 all the time now I use air blower 2 more than I ever did. I hope the next update puts it back where it was. Never had issue before.

Yep sounds very similar. I have found it is using outside temp to control ac. Inside temps stayed around the same and as temp dropped it backed off the ac and then it got warmer and vise versa. Its a mess. I blame those in the EA program lol.

Josh
Haha I’m in EA. Didn’t get this update early though.

Yeah depending on temp swings its way worse than that.
