AC - Vent speed replaced with volume

Hi all,

New Mustang Mach-E Premium 2023 model 3 weeks ago.

This week the tablet has frozen 4 times, rebooting with the 2 buttons on the steering wheel recovers it each time, but seems excessive.

The Air con menu where you can choose windscreen/feet/forward vents and use the volume wheel to change the vent speed only changes the volume now. This worked for the first week. To change vent speeds I have to use 3 levels of auto now.

I've tested leaving my phone in the house in case its Android Auto messing with it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is there a restart that's more extreme than the 2 buttons on the wheel?

or do I just have to wait a month or two for an OTA update?

You should be able to touch the fan button at the bottom of the screen to change the wheel to fan control. It sounds like you might want your dealer to take a look at your center screen though.

I gave the fan button shortcut key a test and it worked.

Maybe I'm being a clown or miss remembered, I thought I could do that from inside the vent menu where you have a top down picture of the car.

I’ve never seen fan control on the vent display screen, only the heat and recirculating buttons

I actually think this should be a feature! The knob should lock on what ever function you choose. The way it reverts to volume is way to quick to be useful while you are driving and when you're not driving, who needs it.

You definitely wouldn’t have liked the way it used to be when the volume was the only thing the dial could control.

I had a 2021, a dealer dropped it off a lift and totaled it, now I have a 2023. Sometimes a bug with these cars turns out to be a pretty good idea.

As you probably know now, tap the fan icon next to the volume knob. It will let you adjust fan speed for a little bit of time with the volume knob.
