Just curious if anyone has ever replaced their factory Steering Wheel with a third party one? How difficult was/is it to do? The stock one is nice but, would like to know about other options.

@markboris has replaced a few MME steering wheels with modified factory wheels. Not sure if anyone has done a truly aftermarket steering wheel. ?‍♂?

I've replaced quite a few steering wheels on many cars including the Mach-E. I've had 3 Mach-E's and replaced the wheel on each one with a custom one to match the interior for that particular car. It is easy to replace the wheel. The tricky part is removing the center air bag which can be frustrating popping the clips off with the tight space you have behind the wheel. I've helped many other members here succeed in doing it. When you are ready, DM me and we can go over it in more detail.

All Mach-E's come with a black vinyl steering wheel. There are several members here that have very cool looking all carbon fiber wheels in various colors and shapes. I like my wheels to look more OEM but a little more classy. I also have my wheels padded slightly thicker.

My '21 Premium had the light gray interior so I had a steering wheel made with light gray leather trim and stitching.

My '21 GT had the charcoal gray interior and I had the steering wheel made to match the seats. Charcoal gray leather with Mico cloth trim on top and bottom inset plus silver stitching.

My '24 GT is similar to my '21 GT but slightly different trim and wanted a flat bottom wheel this time. I had a center airbag cover done in the charcoal gray leather with the silver stitching to match the wheel and seats.

And now trying out a different design: It is just a prototype and having a second one made with some tweaks but here is a preview:

I'd KILL for the steering wheel that's in the new gas Mustang. Looks SUBSTANTIALLY better than the Mach E-s, which looks like it was ripped right out of an Escape.

hand installed/stitched a leather wrap onto my stock gt wheel because i wanted more thickness and like the feel of real leather. but love mark's flat bottom wheel with the alcantara type insert!

That is the main reason I change out the wheels is I like the feel of real leather. Figure while I am at it, might as well give it a bit more style and thickness.

Very nice! Did you cover right over you OEM wheel cover, or did you remove it first? If you went over, how's the thickness of the wheel feel and does your heat still work?

yes, covered over. more girth feels great in my size 9 hands :) and yes, heated steering wheel can still be felt through the cover.
