I posted in April that I had to bring my 2021 GT PE in for service to address a Powertrain Malfunction. I was pleased that my dealer took care of that issue fairly quickly. Step ahead 4.5 months and I got a second Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power with additional messages of High-Voltage Battery Warning and Charge System Fault.

I dropped my car off this time on 8/21 and it's been at the dealer since. Having a loaner helps, but should Mach-E owners be concerned about having continuous Powertrain malfunctions? Anyone else experiencing the same issues?

Hey there! I can take a closer look into your powertrain/battery concerns if you'd like. Can you send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location? To send a DM, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation".

I haven't had any issues yet, but it does concern me when it comes to future reliability. I've seen where this has happened to others that don't have a loaner policy with their dealership. That scenario would make this extra frustrating. Good luck and hope you get your MME back soon.

What did they do to repair the first problem?

I believe they stated the issue in April had to do with the rear motor. I'm not sure yet what's happening with this. Up until getting the warning light and message on the app, the car was running great.

I think eventually Ford will get the wrinkles ironed out. But in the meantime, yes, I suspect powertrain errors will come up from time to time. The good news is if it is the high voltage system the repairs should be covered under the 8 year/100,000 mile warranty. The bad news is the current dealer system usually sucks so it takes a while for your local dealer to complete the repairs.

It seems there aren't enough techs at the dealer to handle current issues. And this is with little market share. What's Ford going to do when EV sales take off?

I got my Mach-E back today. While frustrating that it took three weeks for the work to be done, I have to give props to the Ford EV team. After DM they contacted my dealer and then called me to discuss the issue. Impressive customer service.

You are one optimistic soul. Give you a lot of credit while holding the guiness book of records for failed HVBJB’s ?
