They're kind of related. The battery does not need to be completely dead (like in a '21, for example). It only needs to be "low." This is even worse than in an earlier car because the battery still has sufficient power to keep the emergency jumpers disconnected from the release motor. ??
Pebbles the ? isn’t happy. Her car received the 12v drain warning. In addition, a member identified on FDRS that the car has the GWM update “-FAR” that is said to be the lockout culprit. But “-FAT” is in the FDRS lineup for the car. That is supposed to be the cure for the lock out.

As I understood it from prior discussion, the prior “-FAR” GWM update introduced a bug that blocked the unlock signal from reaching the door lock control module. The current “-FAT” GWM update is said to fix that.

I was aware of the frunk issue, and the voltage too high for frunk and too low for doors. As I understand what Mach-Lee says above, the low voltage that causes the frunk/door issue is caused by a communication issue (among modules I guess) that keeps the 12v from being charged.

If all the above is correct, perhaps there are two bugs causing similar problems, or one bug infecting two systems??

My car is at dealership. Took it in last Wednesday. Made the appointment after I got the 12v/charge now messages late the week before last. I had to get a current state safety inspection anyway. Car had to go in regardless of having been infected by bugs. I did charge after those messages. I was at 75% and went to 90%. No messages after that. It’s about 82 or 83 now I think ar the dealer.

Dealer says it is awaiting direction from “Ford Engineering “ on the 12v drain issue. Dealer also reports that Ford said the 12v drain issue was caused by a prior update.

Pebbles the ? wants her car back! So do I. I’m going to let it ride another couple of days to see if I get any meaningful communication from the dealer. We’ll see where we go from there.

so.... has the fix for the software bug that was preventing 12v charging been released and available to 'all' via OTA ?

Documented fix in any release notes for which module(s) and updates to apply ?

was there no 12v charging while driving (car 'on'), or was the bug preventing 'call for charge' when sleeping to recover from being drained below 12.2v or whatever the LV setpoint is?
Fix has started to roll out as OTA ECG-24.2.4.10.2.

When the bug occurs, it breaks communication with the locks and prevents the BCM from requesting that the 12V battery is recharged.
