I don't have any inside information. The guess/belief is Ford has moved resources to the upcoming EV platform which arrives in 2027? From that platform other "models" will arise.

A refresh of the mach-e has not been discussed for a rather long time, nor has a second generation mme been mentioned by Ford in an even longer period of time. It’s also important to keep in mind that this car is still losing money for Ford.

The last we heard from Ford was a couple of years ago and it was a regurgitation of plans to have a refresh revealed in “late 2026.” @Ford Motor Company any scuttlebutt Brian? 🤷‍♂️🐩

When there was not an update to a NACS port in 2026 it made me wonder if there will be a 2027.

I hope my thinking is wrong as I really like my 2024 ER AWD Premium and would like to replace it with a 2030 Rally when the time comes.

Top of my list would be:
Switch to NACS charge port.
Redesign battery box for better insulation from cold weather.
Improve DCFC charge rate to 200 initial and/or 10 to 80% in 30 min or less.
Body styling is fine. It should have lower drag, but too late for that. Some muck up the efficiency anyway with larger diameter and wider tires.

Ford never said that the Gen1 MME would get a Brand T charger port. They in fact said that if they were going to do it that it'd be on the refreshed model. From my perspective, all a Brand T charging port on a new car means to me is that I have to buy two adapters that go the opposite way from the adapters I already bought. From that standpoint, I'd prefer if they just left the CCS-1 port on future cars so that I don't have to spend cash on a whole new set of adapters. 🤷‍♂️🐩

If I was Ford...
I would base a redesigned Mustang Mach-e on the new EV platform. A small truck on that platform is due out first, which makes sense, since there is likely a large demand for a small efficient truck EV, and Ford 'owns' the truck market. But a redesigned 'Stang in 2028 would seem doable.

There's more to updating the mme with a native NACS port than simply swapping out the CCS-1 port.

Model generations are also quite variable. Traditionally, you could expect a 6-year model generation cycle with a mid-cycle refresh. The 6th-generation Mustang (S550), though, lasted 9 years and received a single refresh. The Generation 4 Mustang lasted 11 model years with 2 facelifts. Meanwhile, the 12th and 13th generation F-150s each lasted 6 years, with the 12th generation getting a refresh on model years 3 and 5, and the 13th generation getting refreshed on model year 5. The current generation F-150 (gen 14) received its facelift in model year 4 (2024 model year).

In other words, there's no real set time to expect a refresh.

The MME's future may very likely depend upon just how much it continues to bleed Ford and what they can do to change that.

Ford said in 2023 that beginning in 2025 they would equip vehicles with the NACS ports. They did not.

#456 on the list of failed promises.

I know Ford said next gen Ford ev’s would have a native NACS port starting in 2025. But i honestly don’t remember whether or not they also included the mme. Not to mention, there are also no next gen EVs as of yet either.
