Hello, All:

I have a 2021 J2 MME and I've had these two PCM and SOBDMC updates sitting in FDRS for the last week. I haven't seen much discussion about these on the forum, so I'm wondering if these are the updates that will resolve the door lock-out issue? Also, if I complete the updates and submit the FSA number, does this confirm the recall completion to Ford, making it unnecessary to take the car to the dealer?

What's confusing to me is this recall shows "Recall service not available right now" for my 2021 MME on the Ford recall page.

Thanks for any insights you might have.

@Mike G had these pop up for his car on 7/31 and he messaged me that he believes that is exactly what they are. He installed them on his car right away with no issues.

At this point the answer is "probably" but until Ford releases some kind of TSB or updates the recall notice to say software is ready, or an OTA says it's the recall fix, we don't know for sure.

Also note, applying the updates with FDRS manually will mean your recall will not be marked as completed. Best bet would be to wait for an OTA. Or you can take your car to a dealer and let them go thru the process of submitting the warranty claim to mark it complete after applying this.

Thanks for your input, Rugedraw and Benk016.

Benk016, note the "submit" button next to the 25F65 recall number. For sure, we haven't had guidance, but I'm thinking that submitting that will clear the recall with Ford. Hopefully, this process for clearing the recall will be confirmed by Ford at some point.

From what I've seen that submit button attaches the update log to a warranty claim that the dealer submits to validate they actually did the updates correctly. There was some dealers marking cars updated when they weren't actually at the correct version.

Hold off on those updates for now. They aren't ready for primetime yet. They will not validate either.
Exactly. The FSA validation step fails if you attempt it because that FSA verification data “can’t be found” if you try to do that. That’s because, although the PCM and SOBDMC updates are more than likely the ones that satisfy the 25S65 FSA, Ford has not authorized any Ford service techs to apply it yet. The update itself is a simple subset of two of the powertrain modules. Pretty basic stuff. So I’ve no idea why they’re still waiting. Could be a “labor funding” pause for some financial reasons, or that they’re taking their time putting together the instructions, who knows?
I did the update and just like all the 25 model owners.. there weren’t any issues installing and I haven’t run into any problems subsequent to doing the update.

I’m hoping the fix comes soon. I bought a new 2024 EAWD that can’t be brought home from the dealership until the stop sale lifts. I’ve been waiting for a month. Delayed gratification, right?

I was visiting my dealer back in 2023 and they asked if I wanted to trade my ‘21 premium ER AWD for a space white GT PE. I said yes….and then they discovered that it was 24hrs over the cancellation deadline to get it off the FCTP program (mannequin duty).
I had to wait 60 days for a car that was just sitting there and couldn’t be sold until the clock ran out. So I get it.
Ask the salesman to get the service advisor to agree to do all of the available updates as a show of good faith. They might as well while they have the car hooked up.

Thanks for the clarification, guys. It's strange that Ford would release the relevant updates to FDRS for a 2021 MME if they are not ready for prime time.

I hadn't had any available updates for about two months...empty software list, cause I had updated everything that was available. 25S65 comes out, and it says to expect a PCM and SOBDMC update. So after a couple of months with no available updates...those specific updates show up on the 'eve' of Q3 (31 July). So that's why I'm thinking they are the fix that 25S65 calls out. I guess we'll know eventually whether that was it or not. I'll either get another set of updates for the PCM and SOBDMC in my available list, or it will be announced in PTS that this repair can be performed by dealer techs, or something else that will be a clue.

As of this morning (12 Aug 25) FSA 25S65 is on the 'FSA verification list', (list updated 11 Aug) and the PTS/OASIS message about not scheduling '21-'24 models to have this performed has disappeared from the 'Alerts' section. So I would imagine that means the wait may be over for getting the lockout prophylaxis applied.

On a side note, when I checked my VIN this morning, I found a new CMR update that wasn't there yesterday, (those normally take 50-60 minutes to update, and do require a powersupply).

The wording of the recall in FordPass has changed as well. I don't remember the prior wording exactly, but I know it included the words parts were not available or something like that.

Now it says
Recall service not available right now.
We will inform you when the service is available. Or, you can contact your dealer.
