My MME (2021 First Edition) generally works well but every week or two, the sound/infotainment system acts up. It may be that the screen acts normal but no sound comes out, or other times CarPlay will just never start up even if I restart my iPhone 14. Couple other weird behaviors, less frequently. It is getting Ford Power-Up updates and is currently on 4.2.5.

When these problems occur, sometimes the 2-button restart of the Sync system will bring back sound, sometimes not. Other times the sound will only return to normal on the next trip. Someday this is going to happen on a 2-hour drive and really bum me out.

It's in the dealer shop this week and I told them the intermittent behavior, which of course they can't replicate. I asked for all software updates to be brought current, thinking some bugs have to have been addressed. The Lincoln dealer (better EV availability than the Ford dealer here in Colorado Springs) tells me that there are no updates, which I find questionable. In reading here about Sync, IMPA, GWM, APIM, IPC, etc etc., I thought there would be some updates to run since the last time it was in the shop which was over 8 months ago.

I feel like it's a software issue, not hardware because everything works fine, most of the time. What are the magic words to use with the service advisor?

Hey! I can take a closer look into your audio issues if you like. Can you send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location?

For me when this stuff is happening, it’s usually around the time the car is updating.

The radio will act strange then, bam, I have an update the next day.

Have someone here run your VIN to see if there really are updates available. It is most likely software related.

My only issue with my car's audio system is that when I drive all of my presets are visible. After my wife drives, it will not revert to my settings when I get in the driver seat. I can cycle the seat a lot and it does not work. After I get around town, stop and get back into the car, it will show my presets. It's aggravating!

Is that a thing? If someone can confirm whether or not there are software updates, I'm skeptical that there are supposedly no updates according to the dealer this week.

My VIN is 3FMTK3SU8MMA07978.
