Coming from a Tesla which has pretty phenomenal Auto Hold+OPD smoothness, so spoiled. BUT twice now in 2 days the car rolled backwards (today almost into the car behind me). Issue seems to be related to the car in uphill position - even slightly - and as you use the one pedal to come to a stop, the auto hold doesn't engage and the car rolls backward. Anyone else seeing this? Seems Ford needs to adjust the system so auto hold engages anytime the car rolls backward in Drive. I have all the latest updates.
?

I’ve had my car since Dec (MY2021 build 2) and it does this every time on the slightest incline. very frustrating.

I’d rather @Ford Motor Company fixed this than most other issues.

As @Mach-Lee said it does feel like in a stick shift car, but only one that the driver has been learning stick for two weeks.

Had the car for over a year now and driven 100% with 1PD and auto-hold and never experienced this.
So I do believe there is an issue hitting some cars for some reason, not a design flaw.

There is but you can’t provide details.
Sorry. No. I was told about it but haven't looked myself. Hoping someone else might be able to help. It might be easy to find...which is why I mentioned it. I do remember reading something about it a while back. Kinds fuzzy on the details. Too many cars in my head I guess...

LOL no, I meant there IS a way to provide feedback in the SYNC system (I do it often) but it doesn’t let me enter details of the issue… just a category.

My auto hold will not engage until the brake pedal is pressed. It has always been that way, and I kind of like it. For instance, at the car wash, I can just creep onto the conveyor without touching the brake and then go into neutral without auto-hold causing a problem.
This is how I thought auto-hold worked (press the brake pedal and that little hand symbol appears under the driver display).

Oh I see. Bummer. So, basically useless. Like the person who posts as Ford Motor Company with their feigned concern about whatever issue we may be having?

My 2 cents: Never experienced this exact behaviour in flat-land-the-Netherlands. On holiday is Spain (real mountains, steep incline) I learned not to trust the 1PD for full stop. Always the foot near the break pedal just in case.... Last year holiday with 1PD in Germany (again mountains) I did not notice it. So it might well be a combination of updates and terrain which will trigger this. What I also noticed (might be not related) is while parking on a flat surface regularly but not always the car will 'wiggle back and forth' before coming to a complete stop. This is a relative new phenomena as well. So my guess: also OTA software related....

I don't think it matters if auto brake hold is turned on or off if you're in 1PD. 1PD itself will hold the car.

As @AhardFSU said, auto brake hold is engaged when you step on the brake at a stop and the red light comes on in the instrument panel.

A normal stop in 1PD doesn't use auto brake hold.

This happens to me all the time. Auto hold is on, 1 pedal driving is on. It will come to a complete stop and then roll backwards a few inches.

Yesterday, at a cross walk, a pedestrian cut the corner and stepped off the curb just as I was stopping, walked behind me and I rolled backwards enough for them to slap the back of my car. Scary.

The only way for me to stop this from happening is to immediately tap the break once I stop, otherwise it will always creep back a few inches.

I have experienced the rolling backwards on 1PD but its my own fault. If I leave my foot slightly on the pedal it will roll. It feels like its moving a lot but its really not that much. Makes me feel like I am driving a stick shift when I roll back slight and go forward.

I stopped using auto hold because 1PD seems to do the same thing.

I think there is a difference in understanding of what the auto-hold is supposed to do.
If you press the brake pedal, and then remove your foot, auto-hold will keep the brakes applied until you press the go pedal.

If you use 1-PD to come to a stop without pressing the brakes at all, then auto-hold will not activate (no icon shown in the IPC), and you could get that slight rolling back thing. The solution is to just press the brakes once after 1PD has done its thing and the car will stay without rolling.
