For those in the Auto-Unlock Trial (early access), I just got an email that the trial is concluding. It sounds like it won’t be rolled out for a bit. Personally, while I participated in the pilot and provided feedback, it wasn’t a feature I really need/would use. My FCCS is in my garage and I’m the only person with access to my garage.

Took me a bit to figure out you were talking about the charger unlocking and not the car.
Sorry. I used the title of the email I received.

I got the email as well. Never used it and when it was first setup gave me issues. I am glad Ford is communicating.

So for those of us who weren't in the trial...what was supposed to happen? Locking a charger to your car or something?

You could set your charge station to lock and remain locked unless your car (and only your car) was plugged in.
Pure speculation - but I suspect the charge station had to “phone home” to Ford’s Galactic Supercomputer every time a car plugged into or disconnected from a FCCS and that was too much I/O for the poor PDP 11/03 running an obsolete version of RSTS/E ??

The idea was if you have a charger in a communal space you would be able to allow certain people to charge but not be open to the general public.
